Thank you so much, orca_girl, I'm glad you found this effective. I couldn't see Daniel backing down from arguing with Jack over this, either, even without Jack's prompting. He's just not like that. He always fights for what he thinks is right. And especially when he thinks Jack is wrong. He's never been shy about that, not at all. And Jack's come to rely on that aspect of his personality.
As for "Endgame", that's a very interesting point. I don't think I've entirely decided in my own mind what was happening with Jack in that ep. I'm not convinced that he froze, though. I still see his hesitation waiting for SG-1, and Daniel in particular, to complete their mission. But I think he was struggling with the decision, if that makes any sense. I don't see it as much as him doubting himself, but rather making a very difficult decision and hoping to hell it was the right one.
But then there's his cryptic comment at the end, "oh yeah, tough decision". (Or something like that). Knowing how unsubtle the writers are for this show, I'm leaning towards taking it as total sarcasm without any deeper meaning. But it was an odd little scene. Clumsy writing, or were they trying to set up for something to happen later in the season?
