that made me adore you all over again, because Rodney is too arrogant, too convinced of his own worth while simultaneously being fully aware of his own limitations, to be that kind of "self-loathing" person. He doesn't hate himself for his weak points, he just knows they're there and works around them.
meanwhile John absolutely has problems with his sense of self-worth, by contrast. And so few writers in the fandom get that.
