SGA: Duet
I'm starting my love letter to Martin Gero right now. Because he rocks like a big rockin' thing. Maybe I'm blinded by the McKay love (and THIS is the McKay that I love), but I thought this ep was the most fabulous thing ever. DH nailed it, the man is simply briliant. There were scenes that could have gone over the top, but didn't, as opposed to last week's ep. I love that we got to see Kate again, I loved that everyone was involved--how great was it that every time something was being tested, or Rodney was in the infirmary, Weir, Sheppard, and Zelenka were hovering around in the background?
And, of course, the kiss. I'm not a Carson/McKay shipper, but I thought the kiss was great. Nicely done, and Rodney's reaction to it was funny and understated, thank goodness.
How sweet were McKay's scenes with Sheppard, though? Sheppard wanting to make sure "they were good". Awww. And that cute little moment at the end where Sheppard tells Cadman it would be his worse nightmare ever to be stuck in McKay's head--what a flirty little look he gave McKay during that. *g*
I even enjoyed McKay's "date".
But my mind is still buzzing over the hotness. I mean, McKay was red-hot in this ep. The unzipped shirt? Killer. Naked in bed? Sheer torture. Damn those sheets. And all those lovely rumpled in the infirmary closeups...
Oh, and there were some bits with Ronan, weren't there? I'm still liking him.
There's so much to say about this ep, (Zelenka! Zelenka! Zelenka!) but I just want to wallow in the pretty right now. And the sheer joy of having watched a great episode.

So bumbling, so sweet, so in need of some really good sex.
John thinks so too. You just know he's going to tease Rodney about that kiss. And then they're going to end up kissing. And then...
they'll end up in another universe having sex with other versions of themselves. /g/

I thought there was some weirdness here and there. Some of the stuff with Zelenka seemed unnecessarily harsh, and Shepperd still seems way too weird to me. Last year he seemed more open and earnest- I feel like I'm missing that.
This felt like an actual episode, rather than the "David Hewlett Special". I was thinking how much better this came across than "Lifeboat", for example. Having Cadman's actual voice there from the beginning made it a lot easier to see her as a person.
I also liked how they showed all those different parts of Atlantis- it almost felt like a day in the life type episode. And that bit at the end where they were all waiting for him to wake up! I just can't get enough infirmary!McKay.

Regardless though, you're right, DH was so incredibly good! (On the eyes as well as the acting.) This ep could justify so many ships -- or Rodney could just be doing everyone. Hell, I'm happy either way. ;)

I just. I didn't think I could love DH any more, and...man. *Man*. I am flailing and making dolphin noises, and this will not be on DVD for over a year, which makes my soul weep. I don't even care that he kissed *Carson*.
Also, I would pay good money to know where Rodney got that shirt. Because if he brought that *with* him? Um. Excuse me, Dr. McKay, but I have some questions. (Not complaints, mind you. *Yow*.)

He was brilliant, especially when he was speaking and acting as Cadman. Like you said, This was the Rodney McKay we love so much.
Having said that, I'm a little confused by my "spoiler" icon, which isn't a spoiler after all.

Grubby is a good look for Carson. Also, is he learning to be more assertive? Maybe he's taking lessons from Zelenka. (Much, much love for my little Z'linky. LOVE LOVE LOVE.)
Ok, on to McKay. The mincing is over the top. I don't mince that much even when my mom drags me up, shoves a purse in my hand, and makes me go to church with the fam on Christmas. I mean, are women *supposed* to walk like that? (If so, that explains a lot about my life...) I know it's a visual cue to let you know who's in control, but please. Also, screaming at a guy while he's trying to fix your MUTUAL problem is COUNTERPRODUCTIVE!!! If you're stranded in the desert with no water and only a mechanic and a box of tools to fix your Land Rover, are you going to sit there and knock the wrench out of his hand every time he goes to work? NO! You're going to sit back and count buzzards and give him his space! Fortunately, they had the Emergency Backup Brain (huggles Z'linky) to fix things because McKay couldn't work with Cadman or whoever she is nattering away at him in his head. And why would she approach Carson as McKay, making him believe that she's McKay, and then FLIRT with him???? That makes absolutely no damn sense at all.
I DID like McKay's awkwardness during the dinner, and with women in general. In this episode, I felt like we got the old McKay back- funny, but without being a damn stooge, and yes, slightly dark at times. That's how I like him.
The kiss? Anticlimactic, and not good slash material at all (although I'm sure I'll see my share of OMGWUB sigs, avatars and wallpapers coming soon to a hinternet near you.) McKay's reaction was appropriate. I almost half-expected girly screaming or something, was much happy about the lack of hysterics.
Overall, this ep was good. So much better than "Runner" for sure, and I have more fodder for my McKay/Zelenka obsession, not to mention some Ronon/John bits floating around in my head here and there.

Really, this episode just kicked ass.
Oh, and did I mention, that DH was so pretty tonight I almost drowned in my own drool? *g*
Looking forward to the caps from this one.

And maybe I was struck deaf by the awesomeness, but did Weir, when talking to Ronon, refer to John as Major Sheppard?? I thought I heard that. I guess I'll just HAVE to watch it again. *heavy sighs* :D

I like the way DH modulated his voice when he was being the woman (I've already forgotten her name) and his mannerisms when he was playing her. Fantastic!
I should've taped this ep so I could watch it over and over. I will have to download it.

The infirmary shots are ideally suited for manipping. Rodney with his head tilted back and his eyes closed.... *HMMMMMM*.
Now I just have to find the time to actually cap it. ;/
