Finally got my hands on a Hi Res version of Echoes! Yay!



I love this ep with the heat of a thousand suns, so being able to make hires caps made me very happy. It's the ep where everyone loves everybody. And looks really pretty while doing it. And the whales and the sun thing and all that other stuff, too.

Highlights include:


John being sulky because he didn't take Rodney with him when he went to pick up Radek and Ronon from their camping trip. He had to listen to them bicker, rather than have fun bickering with Rodney himself. It just made him miss Rodney all the more.


We got to see Ronon be the most adorable sulky teenager EVER.


We also got to see Teyla being adorably smug after she kicked Ronon's ass. It's a good look for her.


And best of all, we got romantic balcony scenes with John and Rodney. John, you and your cute little faces!


"It's the kidding." Oh, Rodney. He just wants you to notice him.


Pictures like this make me wibble embarrassingly about things like Rodney's nose and John's pretty little hands. ::is pathetic::


The start of one of my most favorite scenes ever. Rodney's so excited about his whale/fish friend.

It's all so exciting that he and John make the giggly faces of happiness at each other:



Which of course leads to the scrunchy faces of annoyance:


Note to Rodney: John's so not happy over the "Sam" thing.


But apparently all is forgiven, as John goes back to the giggly face. He loves Rodney so!

Judging from the look on Rodney's face, I'd say John just propositioned him. Something about wanting to take a closer look?


Meanwhile Ronon just sort of glows. The man has the prettiest skin ever.


Arms I love this pic arms because it gives a sense of how challenging it must be to get Ronon and Teyla in the same shot. She just about comes up to his shoulders. And, um, arms.


John is so very sad that Rodney's bed is all the way over there.


If they were together in the same bed, things would be much more interesting.


Ummm, they weren't doing nuthin'.


And then they have to go down to the bio lab, where John can make more faces at Rodney.


And watch Rodney very intently. While rubbing his lips.


I think he might be thinking about that whole bed thing again.


And this one is just plain silly.


Pointy-fingered Rodney. Always worth looking at.


As is superior Rodney.


I just like this one, with John reading over Rodney's shoulder yet again.


Aw, you two! I love that we got to see so much warmth between Ronon and Teyla in this ep. They have such great chemistry, and we rarely get to see quiet moments between them.


Pigeons. Oh, Radek.


I seem to have a thing for pics with Rodney's mouth open...


Pretty, pretty Rodney.


John has certainly noticed.


And then Ronon asks John if he has a plan to save them (other than looking really hot.)


Which John does, only it's a bad plan, which Rodney has to sketch out in order to demonstrate just how bad it is. I'm pretty sure Rodney later uses that Etch-a-Sketch to show John the more complicated positions that he wants to try.


But no matter how intense Rodney gets...


John gets just as intense. He even shows his teeth.


Rodney & ZPM. Totally hot.


As is the way Rodney's hand is clutching the computer. It's entirely possible I'm imaging that hand desperately clutching something else, say...John's shoulder. Or ass.


Meanwhile, Ronon and Radek continue to be utterly adorable. I guess they've gotten over their little spat while camping.


They're not toast! (No, just smokin')


Definitely not toast. But yummy, just the same.


I love this image. Teyla has such dainty little hands. Deadly, dainty hands.


Warmest fuzzies EVER. I loved this scene between them. You just know Ronon's going to fall asleep again. And she's so going to hit him.


I make screencaps with the sound off, because it's too distracting, but I'm pretty sure there was swelling violin music here as John runs into Rodney's arms.


And, in conclusion:

Oh, these are so very pretty. One of my favorite episode of the series. And one of my favorite scenes is when John is watching Rodney in that new lab, like you said, and rubbing his lips.

And Elizabeth asks how Rodney's doing and John says, something like I don't know, he's taking a lot longer than he usually does. And Rodney says, he can hear you, you know? And John says, with the completely adorable, affectionate, fond voice, Yeah, we know.
I watch that moment over and over again!

Oh, yum! Thank you thank you thank you. I have so much love for this episode it just can't even be contained in comments.

And can I just point out the perfection of that last cap of Rodney by himself, because that? That is *exactly* how he looks when John's blowing him in the empty computer lab at 2:17 a.m. after going down there to insist Rodney STOP WORKING ALREADY FOR THE LOVE OF GOD AND COME TO BED but then deciding it's just too far to make it back to his quarters, so instead he locks the lab doors and proceeds to remind Rodney of the many fun things they could have been doing for the past 2 hours if he hadn't been so distracted by things that weren't John. And emphasizes his point by smirking a little, dropping to his knees, reaching for the button on Rodney's pants and looking up at him through lowered lashes while Rodney basically short-circuits and remembers why physics and alien technology are now *forever* relegated to the number 2 and 3 positions on the list of Things Rodney Knows Are Worth Dying For.

*GLEEFUL DANCE OF GLEE* I spent that entire episode rolling around and hugging my pillows to try and muffle my extreme glee. Its the kind of glee you have to train for. No good just BAM ECHOES. You would die of glee overload. You have to build up to it. Luckily S3 had prepared us up to that point so we were all GLEE NINJA and no casualties were sustained. Amazing when you think about it, given than I'm having palpitations over some of those caps *shivers all over*
