I guess no one will be surprised if I say how much I loved this scene in the beginning? John, you need a hug from Rodney but you have no idea how to ask, do you?

Sweet, hurty John.

With the intense gaze. I think he was counting on Rodney coming with him.

Rodney wants to hug John, too, but has no idea how to get there.

But John's fine. He's just fine. No, really, he is.

Right. Which is why he goes all woobie-faced when Ronon shows up. Team Love! But Ronon, seriously, was that the best shirt you could come up with for the trip?

Hee. I love this expression. He so doesn't want to be here.

Poor JF was so squinty during this scene. I can understand why they didn't want to film this scene with sunglasses on, but he was making all kinds of silly faces during it. This one made me giggle. A lot. And then I got distracted by the food on Ronon's plate. Is that a cupcake? It looks like a cupcake. Man, I could go for one right now.

Hair! So much thick, fluffy hair! 'tis lovely, isn't it?

And speaking of lovely, we need a moment to appreciate Ronon, who is looking mighty fine during all this, in his black shirt and curly tendrils of hair framing his face.

Sweet, dorky John, has no idea what to do when his ex-wife shows up. Except look seriously uncomfortable.

Aw. ::pets::

Pretty and hurty.

And then his brother accuses him of being all about the money.

Now he's even sadder.

And looking very alone. And fine. With the suit. Was this man made to wear a suit or what?

Thank goodness there's a crisis. And we get Running!John. With the big gun.

Hi Bates! How have you been? You're looking good, sweetie! Come on over here and I'll let you know just how good.

Um, where was I? Oh, right. Woobie John.

I like this shot, the back of John's head, the suit jacket. Is pretty. And I liked his ex a great deal. I think she was well-cast.

Aw, John.

I found myself fascinated by his unbuttoned shirt in this scene.

And by his uniquely John pose here. He looks so endearing.

Brendon? Is that you? Oh wait, wrong show. ::hums scooby doo theme::

Self-effacing yet smirky.

Why yes, I AM shallow. Why do you ask?

He looks sort of small and rumply here. Like someone that Rodney needs to hug. A lot.

How could anyone turn that away? I loved the ending. I hope we find out how things went at some point next season.
Here are yousendit links to the zip files of caps in case anyone's interested:

Date: 2008-02-26 07:48 pm (UTC)The way John just wants a hug and he doesn't know how to ask and Rodney wants to hug him and he doesn't know how to offer, kills me. As does the way John's face goes even grimmer when he finds out Rodney can't go with him.
And the way he just goes so uncomfortable when Nancy appears is hilarious.
But the look on his face when Dave accuses him of just being about the money kills me dead. He just, oh, he just looks so heart broken.
And yes, Ronon was looking especailly hot - and Bates wasn't looking too bad either ;-)

(I also really liked the actress who played the ex-wife, thank you Lord for that one bit of well-done casting)

Date: 2008-02-26 09:09 pm (UTC)The John/Rodney scene was so full of woobie looks of woe and longing that I almost couldn't believe it was happening in this show. Feeeeelings! Between two guys! How brave are TPTB getting? It is to boggle. And love.
in his black shirt and curly tendrils of hair framing his face.
It's so prom hair, circa 1978. I'm not kidding. Those were MY tendrils. *g* I never noticed before that he has three plates in one hand, at least. Dex is short for dexterous, obviously. *g* Mmmm, let me go there for a moment....
This ep was unsurpassable in so many ways. It's a hall of fame entry, fer sure. *sigh*
