I change over my icons fairly often, because I'm always making new ones but there are a few that I tend to use over and over, for various reasons. Some of my favorites below:
Stargate SG1:
Because Daniel has such a lovely mouth, doesn't he? I can't remember which ep the screencap is from, but I love the diffuse background, it really draws attention to Daniel's face, and the astonished expression is just too much fun.
Daniel's tongue. This one doesn't need any explanation for the appeal, does it?
Daniel from "The First Ones". Could he be any prettier? This was one of the first eps I had ever watched where I thought 'okay, now I get the Daniel thing'. I used a blur overlay on this one, and I really like the softness and depth to it. And the fact you can see how blue Daniel's eyes are.
Jack, from "Forever in a Day" (I think). Not only is it from an incredibly sweet moment, Look at those eyelashes.::sighs:: I like to use this icon when I'm feeling warm and fuzzy.
One of my most favorite Jack pictures. The hair, the cheekbones, the little smile, he just so beautiful here. The lighting is perfect. I used a blur overlay on this one, too, but I think that's it, although I may have adjusted the lighting a bit, too.
From "Forsaken". A quintessential Jack moment. I like the way I cropped this pic, and I like the background, but I'm annoyed the the "k" in Jack sort of fades out. Darn it.
From Lost City. I love Jack's warm and melty expression, the lovely eyes. I know for sure that he's gazing at Daniel.
Jack and Daniel from "Birthright". I love the color in this icon, the lighting, and the way I framed it, but I think Jack's face is a little too blurred. Bummer. I really should redo it.
Okay, the matching expressions--how married are they? I love this pic.

OMG, I made an icon with words and everything. But it's so true, Sheppard's hair is fabulous. And very entertaining. It should get separate billing.

wickdzoot. I love Sheppard's expression, very thoughtful. And I just know those are very dirty thoughts.
Inspired bywickdzoot and mmmchelle. I love the way Sheppard looks just a bit sulky here. He really expected there would be porn on Atlantis.
This one is my current favorite. I was playing around with reducing the colors in the pic, and made an overlay, and I liked the way it sharpened image. And McKay looks so snarky. I was going to go with 'smart is sexy' for it, but then I had a inspired moment and went with 'snark' instead. I can never come up with text for my icons, so it's always exciting when something occurs to me.
Smug Rodney. I love the expression. And I love what I did with the image, although I really can't remember what it was. I used the video distortion filter (GIMP), and probably some sort of unsaturated color overlay. Basically, I was just randomly trying out features when I stopped and thought, 'oh, cool!'. But that grin, oh how I love it.

mckay_daily. It's the eyelash thing, I swear, I have such a weakness for them. I was pretty happy with the color and lighting I managed to somehow achieve with it, too.

Mmmm. Hot Rod. Frombrighidestone. A cap of DH from "Century Hotel". Sweet. I love it, so warm and lush.
Hee! Frommaching_monkey. I love the framing of this one, and how sharp and distinct it is. And that is one gorgeous tabby. Not to mention the geeky shirt, how cute is that? Of course Rodney is good with cats, he's good with all finicky creatures, being one himself.
Fromkageygirl. Part of the Yes There Is Sex On Atlantis movement. *g* It's a great moment, I love their expressions, and the text is nice and sharp, darn, I can never get mine to look that nice.
