Oh, wow. That sounds--seriously funky. In a good way? I dunno yet--I really, really want to have faith in the writers, because they've been so good to us so far.

Putting aside Super(andgodIhopetheydon'tkillhim)Ford and New Guy--gee, now Rodney's had two different love interests bumped up to Lieutenant Colonel. *g*

Well, I thought "Letters from Pegasus" would be really hokey, and it blew me away. So, I'm trusting them. I think this could be really cool. And they get to have "you're a Lieutenant Colonel now" sex. John's going to make Rodney call him "Colonel" in bed now, I know it.

I'm kind of intrigued by John not being the ranking military officer on base anymore, too. I can see some conflict there, and of course Rodney would be on his side...I think it's going to be pretty interesting. Aside from the whole Ford thing.

Hmm. First thought - "aargh!". More rational second thought - "this could be cool."

So far they've done good stuff with stories that sounded on paper fairly bad, so this could be great. Plus Ford will finally get some storylines. And there's some great potential confict with Sheppard's new superior.

Every time someone gets a promotion on TV, I have to wrap my brain around the new rank. "Colonel Sheppard." ::says it a few times aloud:: Hmm. (Rodney getting to snap, "Colonel," instead of "Major." Hmmmm...)

I'm kind of intrigued by John not being the ranking military officer on base anymore, too.

I can actually see John being kind of relieved to not be ranking military officer anymore. He didn't sign on for it, and I think it's been a little hard on him--there probably will be conflict, but I can see him being a little happier to not having it all resting on his shoulders, honestly.

PegB has been making me think about that--with Jack there, PegB John hasn't been the top of the food chain, and I think that makes him a little freer. He can be a little more maverick when not everyone is counting on him to be The Guy.

In light of a few superhero crossovers I read on LJ lately, where SGA characters had gotten superpowers reading those spoilers strikes me as incredibly funny. :)

You've got a point--he won't have to make the tough decisions as often. But, I'm thinking about his conflict with Teyla in "Letters"--he was torn, between her way of thinking and his military way, and I can see him going more "Atlantean" depending on what kinds of orders the new the new leader is handing out.

I'm a little curious about how the new military leader is going to fit in. He's not going to be a regular, since they've announced only one new one, so how often are we going to see him? How much is he going to impact the day-to-day goings on?

I'm thinking the same thing. It all could be done really well, and the show has surprised me (most pleasantly a great deal so far. And BadAss!Ford--what's there not to like about that?

Well, an SGA relevant one was the story akire_yta started, which I like lots. If they are giving Ford as much characterization as she does to hers, it could be good.

Well, that's a whole lot of interesting new and updated character stuff happening...for the male characters. Zilch for the women, apparently--no new females, no important new duties or super-abilities...why do we have women on Atlantis, again? *sigh*

I never look at the spoiler sights so you'll have to spoil me. John gets promoted? Ford becomes a supersoldier, and I knew there was going to be a new military guy, but I take it he's sticking around?

Will Weir stil be in charge? I want Atlantis to stay a civilian operation. I really, really do. There's enough military scifi in the world.

I really enjoyed Letters, too, btw.

Though I did have a plot bunny - when I first started watching SG:A - of what would happen if the Ancients had experimented with creating a hybrid Human/Wraith species as an attempt at diddling with natural selection. Basically creating something to eat the Wraith and give the humans a fighting chance with some introduced Wraith population control.

Luckily Al whacked me over the head with something heavy before the idea expanded. Bless 'er. Saved me from the Godzilla Bunny From Hell. :-D

From the spoilers I'm apprehensively wishing she'd go whack TPTB over the head too 'cause it looks like we're getting out plot bunnies from the same warehouse. 'Cause yeah Ford's a bit of a fifth wheel but making him Ford-of-Nine isn't going to solve anything.

If Sheppard's getting promoted and a new not!dead CO... Will Weir have to carry a baseball glove with her every time Sheppard comes back from a mission to throw at him as he's carted off to the brig? 'Cause I have a feeling he'll be more insubordinate than out of it. :-D

I've been pretty much 99.9% convinced they're related to Nem from Fire and Water in some sort of core genetic way. So if your head's strange, think what it mine must be like? A bizarre semi-landscape of life-force sucking aliens walking into the nearest Starbucks and screaming 'Not lait! Cafe MOCHA!'.
