Brief Thoughts on Epiphany

That's about as far as my thought processes have gotten. *g*

It was a cute episode. I loved the opening, the four of them tramping through the forest, and Rodney's "Yes, remarkably door-like". And then "MALP on a stick". I loved the panic once Sheppard disappeared--there was a lovely urgency here that was totally missing from "The Hive". Rodney on a tear, trying to figure out how to rescue John, blaming himself for not catching time dilation, and acknowledging the probe was Zelenka's idea--aww! He was just hot like a sexy hot thing with the snark and the t-shirt and scowls and the 'OMG, my boyfriend's missing' angst.

And poor John, stuck in the land of The Most Boring and Annoying People Ever. Who undress him without asking permission. (I'm starting to think John has Issues). Who make him *meditate*. I can just hear him afterward, whining to Rodney that he had to just sit there, doing nothing, and think. And sit still.

He was so dorky and adorable. I think I liked the part in the cave the best, though, when he was sulkily waiting for Rodney to rescue him. His slightly pissy little monologues. He gets so cranky when he's not being rescued. Okay, and I liked the part where his shirt rode up and we saw BELLY!

Yes, I'm that shallow.

Think he's gonna to confess to Rodney that he slept with Boring Almost Ascended chick? (God, Rodney, I was so bored, I had to do *something*).

And this ep has to have had the most anti-climax climax of all time. They just stand around in a circle and think at the ID monster, and it goes away? WTF? If it wasn't for the fact that I was so happy to see Weir and Beckett and everyone go through that portal to rescue John, I would have banged my head on the computer monitor.

And then they ascend. And Rodney gets to be bitchy.

I'm still waiting for someone to acknowledge that this whole ascension thing is one big load of hooey. Sure, I get the appeal of immortality, but what is the fun of existing as pure energy? You don't get to have sex. You don't get to eat. You don't get to wake up on a cold morning warm and snug under the covers, with a cat on your lap and your husband snuggling up to you after bringing you a cup of coffee. You just float around and be all superior and annoying. I so don't get it.

Well, I guess those thoughts weren't so brief, were they?

To sum up: John is pretty. Rodney is hot. Teh end.

I should have this episode in 15 minutes..then lunch, then viewing, then commentary..but damn, everyone has said what you said about DH and JF..so I'm biting at the bit to see it!!

It was an uneven episode- and you are totally right about the climax. Very unsatisfactory. Plus, if he really wanted the beard gone, why didn't he shave in the village? None of the other guys had beards.

And of course now I'm thinking of the other meaning for "beard", and the "eww, girl" expression. Hmm.

Weren't we supposed to get big Sheppard backstory in this episode? And Teyla singing? What happened?

Sheppard is a big dork. He's even dorkier than O'Neill.

A favorite part - Rodney asking for a branch and Ronon sticks a LOG in his face! Hilarious!

What is Rodney doing that he's becoming so damned hot? I mean, it was especially noticable at the end, when Teer was saying that he wouldn't have to destroy the portal or whatever - that look on his face, kinda guilty made him look so....grrr. Just fucking luscious.

Also, I love watching Joe Flanigan kiss girls. I agree that he didn't seem much attracted to Teer, but he sure didn't kiss her like that. And his affection with the little girl was sweet, too.

I'm rambling but I just got through watching it and I'm still a little giddy. I liked this ep very much.

Hee! The log. That was adorable. Reminded me of this huge dog a friend of mine used to have, who would bring us logs to play fetch with. We could barely throw the darn things.

I also liked the taping of the camera to the stick. I'm thinking there might have been a lot of takes involved. They all looked like they were about to laugh.

And Rodney--woo. I watched it on a crappy monitor here at work, and I can't wait to see it again at home on my superduper fancy monitor. He looked gorgeous.

I also agree on the way JF kisses--the two handed thing, that's always hot. And intense. He's not at all lazy when he kisses, is he?

It was a cute episode with a lot of funny little character moments, but the overall plot of the thing really didn't make a lot of sense.

The Gateworld Spoilers for this episode do say that Teyla will be singing in it... but nothing else really about backstory. Unfortunate, because I think it might have been more interesting.

And I still maintain someone needs to write an AU where McKay gets trapped with him. I mean, come one "Epiphany"? Just call it "Paradigm Shift" and be done with it.

I didn't get the matrix connection, but LOL, you're right. (I only saw the first movie, and that was ages ago).

I've come to the conclusion that John slept with her because he thought he had to, in order to help her ascend. He's generous that way.

Closer now. I wanna see fics where he's all "How old am I *now*?" Etc. Because Shep seems to be one of the only (McKay being the other most of the time) ones who really aknowledges the utter fucked up weirdness that's considered normal in the 'gate verse.

And I can totally buy that he slept with her. He's a guy, he feels abandoned by those he "cares about" and he's just made a small but ultimately useless discovery. Oh, and there's this thing out there that wants to kill them all, but first apparently likes to toy with it's food.

Oh I have no problem *beleiving* he slept with her. But I also think that there was a smidge of "this is what I'm supposed to do now." The reaction to the kiss was so... belated. And within a canonical context I'm pretty sure there was some "Prettiest person here, am cut off from home *again*, oh hey, tongue down my throat... and oh... well, maybe if I teach them how to *live* through any means neccessary..."

Basically, he took one for the team and laid back and thought of Atlantis. *nods*

JOe had mentioned at a con and in some interview that we were supposed to get flashbacks of John and his Black mark history. One of TPTB had mentioned it somewhere too. AND TEyla was supposed to sing. Stupid PTB

They have perfect eps to delve into the Ancients and Shep and his gene and they go for the Cheesy STar Trek stuff. ::Sigh::
