Frumpy Day

I'm having an official Frumpy Day. I've got on these awful navy pants I bought on sale somewhere, they're very comfy but we're talking baggy ass and everything, plus an orange and white striped shirt that looks like something my mother would wear. And I'm doin' the pony-tail thing which leaves lots of hair sticking out all over. Not in a good way. But hey, I'm comfortable, and I have to help pack up the office today anyways, because we are moving. (New offices, woo! A bigger desk, whoo hoo!)

Actually, my boss is on a roll, and the office is just about packed already. I so love my job. Even on the occasions when it irks me. It's a good place to be.

I'm all a-twitter about Toronto Trek. I've never been to a con before. Actually, I'm more excited about finally meeting [livejournal.com profile] kylielee1000 in real life! ::sighs:: She's so wonderful. We're going to be silly together and have lots of fun. Unless she realizes what a total dork I am. Eep! Maybe she won't like me at all. She'll want to hang with the cool kids and not with me. I am so not cool. Especially when I'm being frumpy.

Kindergarten level fears aside, I am very much looking forward to Kylie and Leah and Sonja and everyone else that will be there. And I'm looking forward to getting away for a weekend, because vacations are always good.

So, is it time to go yet?

How about now?

You're coming up north? How great! I've never been to a con, but I'm sure you're going to have lots of fun.

I was actually thinking of going to Toronto this summer (but not for a convention, more for the museums and the shows).

Eep! Maybe she won't like me at all. She'll want to hang with the cool kids and not with me. I am so not cool. Especially when I'm being frumpy.

Aaaaaaw. :) Don't worry about it. I'm sure you'll have a blast together. I was very nervous about the idea of meeting some slashers in London (during my Euro trip), but we had a great time; they were very nice.

And you have to think that the other person is probably just as nervous as you. :) Courage! All will be well.

Hee! Love the icon.

Thank you for the encouraging words! Toronto does seem like a very fun and cool place to visit. I've only been to Canada once, drove to Winnipeg and then over to that 'lake of the woods'(?) region east of there. It was an interesting trip. Very pretty area, but unfortunately I was having doubts about the project I was working on, so I didn't enjoy it as much as should have.

And I swear it's the PMS making me anxious about meeting everyone. Really, it is. By next week I'll be my normal, confident self. (yeah, right!)

Arg, LJ is being very annoying today. Come, post, damn you!

I envy hell out of you and I'm sure you'll have a blast.

Oooh, I'm having a frump day too and it's all about the shoes! (ANd the sweater that doesn't match but I have to wear because it's the only one I have here in the office and the air conditioning is on high.)

Have fun at your first con!

Oh no, the dreaded Office Sweater! They're not supposed to match, it's the unspoken Law Of Office Sweaters.

I have blue sneakers on. It completes the outfit, really.

You're coming to Toronto Trek! Who knew? That's just wonderful. I can't wait to meet you. Seriously. I'm having a SG room party if we can figure out a time to get together and you most definitely have to be there.

I'll be arriving at the hotel on Thursday with Ozy and I'm a panelist so I should be easy to find. Please, please make sure you hook up with me at some point. I'd love to have the chance to sit and chat and get to know one another. *vbg*

Have a drink for me, OK? Provided, of course, that Kylie lets you sit and your table and forces you to sit by yourself and then throws bread at you throughout every meal. Because, you know, possibilities.

From: [identity profile] gigitrek.livejournal.com
OK, let's make that coherent: Provided that Kylie LETS you sit at her table and DOESN'T throw bread at you.

There. Better.

And what's with the posting (or lack thereof) abilitiy today?

From: [identity profile] thegrrrl2002.livejournal.com
LOL, Gigi, have you had a drink for you already? Or is it just the post-interview brain fade?

I think Kylie may throw bread at me anyway. And I will eat it when she does.

Well, I can't do that now that you've warned her...

I am all nervous about meeting [livejournal.com profile] thegrrrl2002. What if she hates me? What if we don't get along? What if my pretty newly streaked hair turns green in the hot tub?

Yes, it's all kind of irrational fears.

But you know? I've met several people in RL from fandom in the last couple years, and all rock wonderfully. Most people are mostly like their online personas, with only one or two exceptions. So the odds are good that we will get along like a house on fire!

Watch this space for the results of Kylie Meets TheGrrrl In Real Life! Oh--I don't have a digital camera either.

Here's what people say about me when meeting me in RL for the first time: I am funnier and less direct than I tend to be in posts; I am actually kind of ::shudder:: sweet, and very polite; I am much taller than I am online; and nobody expects the glasses. Several people have noted a disconnect between Online Kylie and RL Kylie.

Here's what people say about me when they've known me for years: I talk too fast; I use weird word choices (it's that vocabulary thing); I dance like the characters on Peanuts; and I don't have a sense of humor as much as a finely honed sense of irony.

[livejournal.com profile] thegrrrl2002 will be the judge.

::taking notes::

Will check height, glasses, sweetness, dancing ability...oh, and humor. *g*

I think green streaks would be pretty cool, though.

I think green streaks would be pretty cool, though.

OK, then, bring a swimming suit and we can go sit in a hot tub, and I will submerge my head.

I'm sure the modern-day coloring agents don't turn green, as in days of yore. We can dye it green if you want. I'm easy. My theory of hair is, it grows out. I even dyed it brown once, just for kicks, but when it came in blonde, it looked like I was going gray, which I'm not, so I had to dye it back.

The glasses are optional. I have contact lenses, but I tend to wear them only when I teach aerobics because they don't provide as clear and wonderful vision as one would wish.

So you'd think the aerobics thing would result in dancing ability, yes? Oh, no. You'd be wrong. Now, I can teach you a little stylized 32-count self-repeating block of choreography if you want. And you can teach me some sexy movements from belly dancing.

Can we do that? Please??

LJ is being very slow and odd, isn't it?

I've always had a yen for purple hair, myself. I figure once it goes entirely gray, it will be like a blank palette, and I will be able to do any color I want to. (Yes, I fully intend to be a crazy old lady when I grow up.)

You must teach me something interesting to do with my step aerobic step thingy. And then we shall undulate and shimmy together. Most definitely.

I am much taller than I am online;

That makes a strange sort of sense.

And the bread-attack doesn't hinge on the element of surprise. Although the pudding-dump does.
