A little tiny Post-Travelers (SGA 4.05) ficlet

"So while we were all worried to death about you, you were frolicking around an ancient warship with a hot space babe." Rodney crosses his arms over his chest and glares.

"Rodney," John sighs. He's tired, his jaw aches and he was almost killed. Several times. "It wasn't like that."

"Fine. Uh huh. So she wasn't hot?"

Irritated, John snaps, "Yes, she was hot. Very, very hot." Which was true. He doesn't mention that she was utterly insane and kind of scary, too.

"Oh wait." Rodney's eyes narrow. "You slept with her, didn't you?"

"Rodney, for god's sake, I was her prisoner."

"Of course. So you have an excuse for sleeping with her, you were trying to woo her with your dubious charms so you could escape--"

Anger flares deep inside of John. "My charms are not dubious. And I don't know where you're getting this weird little fantasy from but I was a prisoner, and she hit me. A lot. And threatened to kill me. And then wraith attacked us."

"And in the end she just let you go? Like that?" Rodney snaps his fingers.

"She let me go because I managed to convince her that we'd make better allies than enemies. Come on, Rodney, you know all this." He had explained it all at the debriefing, in excruciating detail. Well, almost all of it.

"That was it?" Rodney asks. "That was all that happened?"

He's staring at John, and John can't look away, Rodney's eyes are too intense and John remembers what it felt like to have Larrin lean up against him, all slim and pretty with the long soft hair and the breathless voice--

"Okay, she kissed me," John blurts out. "And then stole my stunner and shot me with it."

Rodney blinks. Then the corner of his mouth twitches.

"Hey, it is not funny."

Rodney's expression goes thoughtful. "Um, yes, actually, it is." He nods. His expression brightens, and then he's grinning. "Very much so."

"Rodney," John growls, because he had a very very long day with a crazy woman and wraith and the punching and he was afraid he'd never see Rodney again and none of it is very funny at all. He's about to tell this all to Rodney except now Rodney is right in front of him, fingertips touching the bruise on his jaw and the words fade away.

"I'm so glad you're back," Rodney says softly. He leans in and brushes his lips over John's mouth.

All the tension leaves John's body in a rush. He closes his eyes and leans against Rodney, big steady Rodney. "Tired," he sighs, circling his arm around Rodney's waist.

"Me too."

He lets Rodney lead him to bed.

Okay, I totally love Rodney cracking up when he finds out that Laren stole John's stunner and then shot him with it. Because it actually is pretty funny. Hee.
