Miller's Crossing PicSpam: John + Rodney = LOVE

I rewatched this ep and man, the last ten minutes are just amazing. Such intensity between John and Rodney--Rodney willing to sacrifice himself for Jeannie, and John not willing to consider it for a moment. We get to see John all his vulnerable glory. He may not be able to talk about his feelings, but hey, everything is right there on his face for the world to see.





But first of all, I adore Jeannie. I love when she and Rodney are on screen together. Especially with the matching poses.


Lovely.


Also very lovely--paperwork!John. He shouldn't look so hot surrounded by papers, but he does.

On to the meaty stuff:


John points out that the NID is not going to provide a human for the wraith to feed on.


Which Rodney of course understands, and says it has to be him. He has to save his sister.


Which of course is unacceptable to John. (I couldn't bear to resize this pic, John is just so stunning.)


I love when they stare into each other's eyes.


Oh, Rodney.


John's not going to let it happen. "You're an invaluable member of my team and you report directly to me."


"Really? You want to talk about chain of command right now?" (Because it never came up during all the hot sex, you know?)

And this is John, realizing what he has to do to save both Rodney and Jeannie:






So hurty.

And how fabulous is John when he's talking to Wallace, and making with the pictures of Jeanie's family?


John: "She's going to die, just like Sharon.
Wallace: "I'm so sorry."
John: "I'm sure you are."

That "I'm sure you are" just gives me chills. Along with "Now McKay's blaming himself, but I know better. You know better."


Rodney discovers what has happened.


"I was showing Wallace the labs. The Wraith got the upper hand. That's what the report's going to say." Oh, John. Could you be any more fierce when it comes to protecting your family?

As if that wasn't enough, we get a John and Rodney tag to the ep:


How adorable is John's "Hey, look who's back. How was the family?"


Rodney is amazed that John talked Wallace into sacrificing himself.


John says, "I presented a situation. He volunteered." Oh, John.


And then they go off together. With the totally sweet "Say, you and I are about even when it comes to looks, right?" exchange.

Yes, Rodney, you are. ::hearts::

Is it just me, or in that last photo does it look like DH's pants are the wrong size?

Rodney's pants do look a big baggy, don't they? Not like those wonderfully snug black ones we see him in on away missions. The ones that hug the curve of his ass. I like those. A lot.

Oh, thank you!! I don't think there is such a thing as watching this ep too many times, or staring at these incredible shots too long. I totally agree with you - John doesn't have to say a word in this ep. IMO Flanigan outdid himself to show us how John feels about Rodney, and you know, some of the looks in this ep were as good, if not better, than the actual words.

I loved the scene of them together, the "I can't," but I thought two of the best "looks" from John came when Rodney gets in the lab and finds out what happened to Wallace, the way John stares after him (above) just wrenches my heart. Then the looks in the ending scene. John seems to almost struggle with saying the words, telling Rodney how he feels. At least that's the way I like to see it. ;)

It's the most amazing episode, seriously. That scene between the two of them is beyond words. And of course, they are both ridiculously beautiful in it, but then again, I adore Rodney's geek clothes. The striped pants and the hoodie are adorable.

The scene with John convincing Wallace is disturbing to me, not because of the action, but because Joe is having one of his "I look like David Duchovny" moments there. Brrr!

I love that last screencap. John - combat boots. Rodney - adorable sneakers. With reflective bits! That still kinda match his uniform! :D

I found the mention of chain of command interesting, because it is something that very rarely comes up between them. It's as if John falls back on that because he can't possibly say what he's really feeling.

But we know it anyway, we can see it in his face. Breathtaking indeed!

1. Items on John's bedside table: picture of him & Evel Knievel; War&Peace on top of a magazine; analog clock; lamp; dish of ... pistachios?; small piece of black something -- a wire? a tie of some sort?

2. Is the plant inside John's room or just outside?

Second: in The Scene, my favorite part is right before John says, "I'm sorry" -- his eyes move over Rodney's face in, well, a *caress*.'

YES. You said it. Right there - that's it.

OMG, so much love in this episode. SO much. When John tells Rodney he's an invaluable member of his team and then "I can't", he's as close to tears as he's ever been in four seasons of this show. He's never done that with anyone else (except, I have to be truthful, in Adrift and Spoils of War, with Elizabeth and still, it wasn't to the same degree). Not Teyla, not Ronon, nobody but Rodney.


PS. I still don't see much resemblance between Kate and David, but I love her. I think she's gorgeous. And I wish TPTB would get their heads out of their collective asses and bring Kate on as a recurring character and stop with the random long haired soft porn worthy chicks that wear leather and low cut bodices. *exhale* Sorry. I ranted a little there!

There is definitely something special between John and Rodney, John does not get that emotional with anyone else. Or give them such longing looks. I love how this season went out of its way to show us the connection between them. It's all so fab!
