Quick Thoughts on SGA 5.10 "First Contact"

First of all, let me just say Eeeeeee I loved it!! Oh Daniel, you're so Daniely. I loved that he and Rodney worked so well together. Sure, Daniel got exasperated, but he also kind of "got" Rodney. And respected him. Compare that to "Tracker". That ep just didn't work for me, with the way the Ronon-Rodney interaction was written. This was so much better.

And dear sci-fi channel, if you really want us to think that John got blowed up in the gateroom, showing him in the promos doesn't really add to the suspense, you know?

One last thing--was it just me, or did working off of Michael Shanks bring out the Canadian in DH? Because that wacky Canadian accent sounded stronger than ever.*g* So adorable!



Okay, time to head out and have some fun, it's a beautiful sunny day out, and I'm feeling much less cranky. Time to make the most of it!

Eeee! Daniel! I've been on a Jack/Daniel fic binge the past few days, and I've dl'd this ep to watch because I wanted to see Daniel and Rodney in all their nerdy Canadian glory.

And I agree-- Daniel definitely brings out the Canadian in our Rodney. *g*

I'm not a huge Daniel fan, but I have to say I enjoyed the hell out of their interactions, and I enjoyed him in this. It also really highlighted the differences in SG-1 versus SGA-1 for me - the way that Daniel is just quietly, calmly competent, secure in himself, whereas Rodney is neurotic and caustic but still shines when the moment calls for it, like when he shoves all his concerns about the activation of the device aside to save Daniel's life. It's not that Daniel as a character is *less* real to me, but Rodney as a character is so much more - well, like the average person(in some ways). And poor Woolsey, wanting to make a speech and being shut down! I can't see Hammond or Landry having the same trouble, and though I love Hammond to bits, I just want to *squeeze* Woolsey.

Normally Rodney would have high levels of sccorn and disdain for someone of the 'soft-sciences' but he treats Daniel fairly well, for Rodney. Must be the time they were together in Antarctica or it has do with what Daniel has done in the past.

Daniel absolutely gets Rodney and when Rodney realizes that, he softens a bit more. Rodney also seems to understand Danil as well. Our boy geniuses. Mutual respect and all. They can play together for as long as they want so long as Rodney goes back to John at the end of the day.

And the Canadian accent? I thought maybe it was just me, but DH definitely has it stronger in this episode.

Daniel and Rodney were fantastic. I really enjoyed their scenes together.

hee, yes. That was utter fail. I get pissed off every week when they tell me this is the Best! Season! Ever! It just makes me more bitter about the cancellation.
