thegrrrl2002: (Rodney from Tracker)

Bill Nye!! Aw!! Dave Foley!! Neil deGrasse Tyson! Snarkiness! Peril! Rodney in a tux! A VELVET tux!

It was FUN. A hell of a good time.

Oh yeah, there was that bit with Keller, which was actually kind of cute, and watching DH kiss someone never gets old. Damn. Actually, this is the first time that the whole Jennifer/Rodney thing didn't bug me, surprisingly enough. It was cute, I liked seeing Rodney all excited and happy but now that whole relationship thing can go away and never be mentioned again on the show, okay?

And am I the only one who remembers Marshall Bell from Good vs. Evil? God, I loved that show. It was such a hoot.

I feel like they wasted Dave Foley, Bill Nye, and Neil deGrasse Tyson on THIS. What could have been the best episode ever turned into...yeah, not the best episode ever :( But that's just me.

I enjoyed watching them. It seemed like they were having a lot of fun. And I'm sure DH was at his most entertaining.

Oh, definitely, all of them seemed like they were having tons of fun (and David especially loved shooting this...he's down in LA with Bill Nye this weekend, along with doing the Burbank con:) but I just wished there was...more. More Nye interaction, definitely more Tyson interaction, just more.

I agree! I went into the episode expecting to hate it, and I was really confused when I didn't.

*g* I had really low expectations for it too. I think that made it easier for me to enjoy!

I didn't like it at all. The relationship really bugs me - it's the first date and she is trying to change him. I just see no chemistry whatsoever between Staite and Hewlett and it comes off forced and fake. The kiss wasn't even passionate to me. It felt like neither actor wanted to be there. I can only hope it is the impetus for the breakup. I pretty much hated the entire ep after the John-Ronon opening clip. I'm glad it worked for you. For me, will never ever watch it again and hope that fanfic will fix it. I want Rodney to be with John and the team who love and accept him for who he is.

Oh yeah, the relationship doesn't work at all for me. They had some cute moments together though, and it makes me happy to see Rodney so happy. But overall, I'm not seeing any real chemistry there either.

I like Rodney happy, too. Just think his true happiness lies with John - hee, in more ways than one!

I'm on the side of the line that liked this episode. It was FUN. And Rodney was...exactly Rodney. Both petty and brave and In VELVET. I think I need and icon of him in the bow tie. (that could turn into a kink so very easily)

And am I the only one who remembers Marshall Bell from Good vs. Evil?
Thank you. I tried so hard to place him and that's what I was trying to remember.

It's not particular hard to handwave the "relationship" It doesn't even come close to the relationship he already has with John. Frankly my brain has already photo-shopped her out and John in.

Hee! Yes, exactly.

And their relationship is so pasted on that when she's not on screen it goes away completely. I'm good with that.

Everything you just said feels like it came straight from my brain, it just didn't know it.

It was a FUN episode, with lots of little things to love about it, and Rodney's Big Axe Action Scene and his self-admiration about it was really cute (and DH can do no wrong, imho). I think all the charisma and adoration possibilities are sorta... blocked or something. Like, DH is giving a really great performance and being very "Rodney" about it all, but it's hitting this wall- a chemestry-blocking wall, so that even when Keller (whom I very much like as Jewel & when she was Kaylee) is being, ya know, not annoying and stuff, it still doesn't work because her cuteness is blocked by the wall, too. I was the least bothered by the "relationship" this ep than I have been previously, I will admit. There's just something missing. All the pieces are there, it just isn't coming out right. Like perfectly matching pieces of two different puzzles- sure everything can go in place, but the picture is just all wrong.

And now that I've ranted unexpectedly, I'll go away now. ;)

That's it exactly! It's a puzzlement. They're both charming actors but together, there's no spark. I have to admit I like Jewel herself and as Kaylee much more than I like Keller. Who I don't hate. I think it's the uneven writing for the character.

And feel free to rant unexpectedly any time! *g*

Wow, this was exactly my reaction too! I fully expected to hate this ep but it was actually quite fun & I liked seeing Rodney happy & finally not just being totally awkward with a woman.
But yes, that can be the last of it now, thank you, Show, 'kay? No need for anymore of that & we can all go back to writing our fix-its or ignore-its & be happy with Rodney getting the boy, not the girl. ♥

Yes! It felt like a fun romp to me, a lighter ep that didn't have to have any deeper meaning. I love watching Rodney. SGA could be all Rodney, all the time and I'd be happy. *g* Okay, with a little John thrown in, too.

I really do hope the Jennifer thing goes on the back burner now, though. It's much easier to pretend it doesn't exist that way.

It was a fun ep & I enjoyed it totally on that level - just happily watching Rodney being Mr Fixit in a tux!
I viewed it as an ep that's totally outside the show - like it wasn't really SGA & has no bearing on canon (well, that's in my head anyway!) So yes, no more mention of that thank you very much & we can all be about our business. :-)
