Upon rewatching, it seems like Michael is indeed Zachariah's boss. Zachariah tells Adam that Michael foresaw the events in the green room. This is after Zachariah nearly gets fired (in a literal way) in the bar by Michael for failing to seal the deal. I'll bet Michael did indeed foresee the events, all of them exactly the way it happened. I wonder, instead of giving Zachariah a second chance, if Michael was just using Dean to fire him instead?

I don't know what to think about the idea of Michael "foreseeing" events. Where are these prophetic visions coming from, if God has checked out? Not completely clear on it.

Hmmm good point, I'm not sure what to make of that either! Maybe Michael has been conferring with prophets? Which still isn't the same as foreseeing the events himself.

Do you mean prophets like Chuck? Chuck gets his visions from 'an' archangel, so he's not a great source of truth.

Also! I just thought of something. Remember Zach asking Chuck if he has "seen IT?" And Chuck is like omg yes (oh nooooes)? I think it could easily be that Chuck foresaw Dean saying 'yes' the way he did in the Green Room, only he didn't see the rest of it. And so has Michael, only saw Dean in the green room saying yes -- that's why they kept trying to bring Dean to the green room because they thought that at some point when he's there, he'll say yes. Ha.

Okay, that's my working theory. :)

I know Chuck is protected by Raphael, but did he get his visions from him too? I don't recall where their visions come from.

I like your working theory. The angels stopping watching the vision with Dean at "yes" and celebrated a bit too soon. *g*

I think Cas explains it as Chuck being a conduit for the words of an archangel. So Chuck pretty much sees what the archangel shows him. ...Which actually means that an archangel out there is aware of "a" future...

Is it definitely Raphael who protects Chuck? I know he was the archangel who killed Cas, but was that because he was protecting Chuck or just because he was the closest Archangel on hand to punish the traitor?

Good question. Cas said that prophets are tethered to an archangel, so I had assumed there was a specific one assigned to him. And that when Dean and Cas messed with Chuck's prophesy the archangel came in to deal with it.

Interesting. I'm a little confused about the foreseeing thing; I think there was another canon reference to something that was foreseen, but I can't remember who said it. It all ties into the destiny and fate stuff. If angels can time travel -- forward as well as back, as well as looping time -- then I'd think there wouldn't be much of a trick to foreseeing human history. Sometimes I think the unpredictability of the usually very predictable Winchesters is the only true variable in any of this. *g*

I think you are right about the foreseeing thing, but I can't remember the details either. Gabriel, maybe?

The angels would have this all nailed down if it weren't for those damn Winchesters! I like that idea. ::nods::

God created the Winchesters just to bedevil his angels.

I can just picture Michael hopping into the future "oh, okay, this is how it is" but by the time he hops back, Dean has changed his mind about whether to have fries that morning, and the whole future has changed. So Michael hops into the future B, but by the time he hops back... :)

I don't know that Michael forsaw anything, just that he knew there was another vessal with the right bloodlines. Zachariah is/was not about bending the truth, or even tampering with the prophecies, as when he planted the thought in Chuck's head in the season opener.

Hah, so true, Zachariah would say anything to get what he wanted!

Totally friend's friends jumpin' here - hi! *waves*

I think that the "foresee" thingy wasn't literal this time. I think that Zach just meant that Michael knew exactly how Dean would react if a brother of his was threatened, that he had it planned out. Just IMHO 8)

Hi! *g*

That makes sense too! More sense than archangels being able to see into the future, because that gets me all confused, plot-wise. Those angels are tricky fellows!
