Damn televised baseball game, I had to wait till this morning to see the show!
Overall, I loved this ep. It felt...hopeful? And full of surprises. They have a plan, they have the rings, they have Cas saying that Sam may be able to pull this off - eeep! I kind of love how this has become all about Sam now, it's definitely time for that. I loved him so much for the conversation with Dean by the car, where he said he felt like he was less than what everyone else was but he had to try anyway. Aw, Sammy. It's so not true. Have faith in yourself. Remember when Famine wanted you to drink all that demon blood but you iced the demons instead? Then blew up Famine? You have a stronger will than you think.
Things what I especially loved:
Matt Frewer. Although I'm glad his bit was mercifully short, because, eeeewwww.
Castiel! Calling Dean from the hospital! He has a bug bite that won't stop itching! And his apology to Dean. It was perfect.
Crowley. Everything about Crowley.
Death. So creepy. And awesome. And maybe even older than God. I loved how clearly freaked out Dean was while meeting him. JA sold that scene like nobody's business. And Death simply wants to get away from Lucifer. That too was kind of awesome and unexpected.
Bobby. Walking again. Giving the "boo hoo princess" speech to Castiel. ::hearts::
And Castiel still being bad ass. A human bad ass. With a gun. So. Hot. Maybe I'm just grasping at straws, but this all feels to me like they're setting up a story for him, rather than ending his story. That maybe, just maybe, there will be a place for him, a story for him next season. ::clings desperately to hope::
One thing that bugged me - I wish this hadn't been so rushed. It felt like at least two eps worth of story crammed into one. And that's not just because I wanted to see more of Castiel and team blowing up the warehouse of vaccine. Okay, maybe it is. I know explosions are expensive, but it was a victory, and we should have gotten a chance to savor it.
So, not very thinky thoughts, I know. I need to watch again. And wonder about Death not knowing that Dean was lying. Or if Dean was lying. Or if Death knew he was. And if Death himself was lying. And why Crowley was kind of freaked out by that first building that he thought Death might be in. There was something going on with him there, the way he backed off in a hurry. Hmmmm.
Also, why didn't they show that scene where Dean teaches Cas some of the cool stuff about being human? I know it happened. And it involved a lot of nakedness. ::nods firmly::

Date: 2010-05-07 08:57 pm (UTC)I did love Bobby in this too, I love that he's so blunt and knows how to handle the boys. The four of them make a great team. I wanna see more of that next season!

Date: 2010-05-07 03:03 pm (UTC)I hope so. I'd hate to see him go. It's funny that we haven't heard whether or not Misha has signed for another year. They're being very cagey about the whole thing. I know they asked Misha to tweet last night during the episode, which implies they know his popularity. So they would want to keep him.
I loved the conversation between Dean and Castiel. Absolutely priceless.
I wanted to smack Bobby for his "boo hoo princess" speech to Castiel, but I suppose that's Bobby's way of showing that he cares?
The whole Death and Dean scene was beyond awesome. I thought Dean was going to gag on that pizza. Dean finally met someone who scares the crap out of him (besides the hell hounds).
I'm worried that Death just did exactly what Satan wanted. I even fear that Crowley saw Lucifer in that first building and did what he was told as well. Think about it. The last time we saw a whole bunch of Reapers, they were all staring at the building where Lucifer was. They were doing that again last night. Who can tell whether or not Death is a double dealer. Maybe, if he is, he is working at Lucifer's behest in giving Dean the ring and pushing him to push Sam, but Death knows Dean is lying so knows things won't go quite the way Lucifer plans.
I can't wait for Thursday!

Date: 2010-05-07 09:03 pm (UTC)I sure Misha is not allowed to reveal it at this point, since it would be a spoiler. I just hope we know by the end of next week, rather than having a hiatus-long cliffhanger!
I actually loved Bobby's speech to Castiel. It was so very Bobby. It's exactly how he responded to Dean about Sam near the end of last season. Because seriously, wallowing in self-pity isn't going to help anyone at this point.
I even fear that Crowley saw Lucifer in that first building and did what he was told as well.
There was something going on in that first building. The last time we saw all the reapers together was when Lucifer was raising Death, so I'm not sure it had anything to do with Lucifer himself. I don't think Crowley can be completely trusted, but I don't think he working for Lucifer. I think he's just looking out for Crowley.
Still, I really want to know who was in that building because Crowley seemed a bit shaken up by it.

Date: 2010-05-07 04:23 pm (UTC)Crowley. Everything about Crowley.
This.
Death was amazing. From the perspective he gave, I totally buy it. If I were something as cosmically huge as Death, being dragged around and ordered about by a bratty child would irk me greatly.
I wish this hadn't been so rushed.
I had the same thought. It felt like they were cramming too much big-arc stuff into one episode. Then again, it is the eleventh hour, and I think the fast pace made it feel like that. So you could argue either way.
And why Crowley was kind of freaked out by that first building that he thought Death might be in. There was something going on with him there, the way he backed off in a hurry.
If you'll remember, Crowley, in his very roundabout, Crowley way, was trying to get Dean to the right spot before they got to the warehouse or whatever. "Let's go for pizza." I don't know what was up with the warehouse, but I'm sure that was what was going on.
I NEED ME A CASTIEL ICON.

Date: 2010-05-07 09:07 pm (UTC)Yes! So true! I loved it so very much.
And that is so true, Crowley did mention pizza before they went to that building, right? So why did they go there, if Crowley already knew about the pizza joint being the place to go? I am so intrigued. There's something else going on, and I need to know what it is, right now. Gah, I'm never going to survive till next week!!
I NEED ME A CASTIEL ICON.
Hee! I feel like a need a hundred more. But feel free to snag any of mine, if they tickle your fancy.

I'll definitely have a look. Oh, Cas. *Hearteyes.*

Date: 2010-05-07 07:38 pm (UTC)So awesome! Yeah, a little rushed, but the final hour would be, wouldn't it?
Since both Lucifer and Michael are in sub-standard vessels now, it's still an even fight-- right?
Crowley! CROWLEY!!! How rockin would it be if Crowley didn't release his claim on Bobby's soul, and next year is all about chasing him around? *g*
CAS! Don't worry, sweetie. You're in good hands. :)

Yes, good point! I hadn't thought of that.
And Crowley, oh gosh, I'm really hoping he survives to bedevil the boys next season, because he's beyond awesome. He and Bobby together. Hee!

Date: 2010-05-07 07:38 pm (UTC)And, for what it's worth, I believe Death wasn't lying. And that Dean wasn't either even if he thinks he was at the time. And I think Crowley is working for Death (to the extent that Crowley works for anyone but himself) since he was suggesting pizza to Dean before he went into that building.

And then broke into a million tiny pieces when he encountered Pestilence and Pestilence got to him and he was just so damn surprised.
Oh, Cas. BUt at least I'm actually less worried for him being in season 6 now than I am worried about Bobby living to see season 6 ...

Date: 2010-05-08 04:34 pm (UTC)I'm starting to think that both he and Bobby will be in S6. Because what better way to take the pressure off of JA and JP than to have a few Cas-centric eps?

Date: 2010-05-07 09:48 pm (UTC)I feel, hmmm, dissatisfied with the way the season is winding up. I would rather they go out with a bang on 5 seasons than drag it through the sixth season as well.
