Okay, so Danny was a bit of an ass in this one, and a lot of issues were played for laughs in an uncomfortable manner. I still enjoyed it, though, because there was Danny, and Steve, and Steve and Danny. Their chemistry is off the charts and they really are delightful together. Also, obnoxious Danny makes me laugh because Scotty does it so well. And he was called out on his shit, by everyone, especially Steve.

I thought it was interesting that Steve and Danny had a cargument about religion, which is so rarely addressed on TV. And what made Danny's disrespect more tolerable for me is that it wasn't just focused on Hawaiian beliefs, but all religion. It's not news to me that Danny is a jerk sometimes, although it would have been nice if we got to see his softer side along with it this time.

Things I did like:

The return of Goofy Steve. Oh, you are so adorable, with your face. And giving Danny flirting tips, yeah, Smooth Dog, you are definitely one to be giving Danny advice. I love that AOL seemed to be having a lot of fun with this one, and I like to think that it's because he got to work with Scott nearly the entire time.

MAX. How are you so awesome? He fills me with glee, I swear. I love him calmly explaining that the corpse couldn't become a zombie because his face was blown off. And the guys just going along with it.

I loved Danny checking out the apartment at the crime scene And that he knows what a Berber carpet is.

Surfer!Priest was awesome. And that was a lovely moment with Kono.

TEAM! Doing TEAM things! Helping Danny move! And Danny's going to buy a pot and maybe even a pan! But no, the ghost drove him out. Okay, I think it would be hilarious if for the rest of the season, he keeps seeing ghosts. Because he's pissed them off. So they're going to mess with him.

I wonder when Steve is going to point out that Danny keeps dismissing all the decent apartments he sees because he's afraid of commitment? Because he totally is. Getting a decent place to live and buying pots and pans and flatware means that Hawaii is your home, dude. Face it.

Also, Steve, please keep wearing those snug t-shirts. I like.

Chin, keep on commenting about Danny's big bed and things he might be doing in that big bed. You're adorable when you are being fresh.

And hey, Lori didn't bug me in this ep! I could have done without the scene in the mental hospital, for a lot of reasons (really Steve, you needed her profiling skills?) but her presence wasn't so jarring this time.

All in all, aside from some disappointing stuff, it still was pretty fun for me.

Danny can definitely be a dick, what annoys me more is that they're not really showing the care-free, sweet side of him much this season. Even that scene with Grace, he got angry, and I know there is a lot of reasons why he would be angry, but. You know.

I agree, I was disappointed in the scene with Grace--I wanted to see sweet Daddy Danno. Hopefully we'll get some of that soon!

Sweet Daddy Danno giving her kisses all over her monkey face! Hopefully, once he's actually settled and buying pots and pans, he'll mellow out once again.

I can buy that Danny has been a bit stressed out lately.

Maybe Steve will go shopping with him? For the pots and pans? I like to think they went mattress shopping together. ::nods firmly::

And Steve helped choose the color for Grace's bedroom, too. Violet something, right? I'm sure she pointed at it, and Steve nodded solemnly, and so Danny did not have a choice.

Wasn't it something like "Lavender Tulip"? Which is just too sweet. Steve totally bought that paint for her.

I knew Tulip was in it! XD. Oh, bless. I really did like the lot of them at the end, it was beautiful. We need more of that.

Exactly! It's really fun to watch everyone together like that, just being themselves and not being detectives. Like the ending of last week's ep, in the locker room. They're relaxed and having fun. And being very cute.

It should become a ~thing. This or Steve and Danny being in love.

It just might become a thing, we've gotten two in a row! And I'm pretty sure Steve and Danny in love is already a thing. :D

Yeah, they are very in love, this is true. And lovely.

I got too used to all the ~feelings in fanfic, and sometimes I get sad when they don't show all their love on teevee.

We definitely got more schmoopy moments in S1, but then again, a lot of the character moments have been missing this season although the last few eps have been much better on that for me, at least.

But their fondness for each other is definitely there, in their goofy faces.

Because even when the writing is clumsy, we know Steve and Danny LOVE each other. Even if they don't know it yet.

We seriously needed more Gracie & Danno time. I can't believe he took her to his hotel for trick or treating. Come on.

We definitely needed more Grace and Danno! And maybe he didn't have time to take her anywhere else? That was definitely kind of weird.

It was kinda a let down to FINALLY get a Daddy Danno and Grace moment and Danny gets pissed off. Hadn't really thought about that, but yeah. Oh well.

Danny was very anti-island at the crime scene but then he generalized it to anti-religion in the car. I can roll with that, the cargument was kinda wonderful and multi-faceted. I just had a problem with his crimescene etiquette and i loved so very much that Chin, Kono and Steve all called him on his shit.

Surfer!Priest was awesome. And that was a lovely moment with Kono.

I almost thought he was the same priest who blessed our food at the luau while I was there. He was the exact same shade of sufer!awesome.

Yeah, that scene with Grace was disappointing, but I guess it was another contribution to Danny's Very Bad Day. Which I guess I can go with.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought Danny was a total dick in this episode. I have no problem with his not being at all religious (a lot less problem than Steve, looks like, which was interesting; Steve seemed to really believe about the sacred ground. I would have liked to know more about that), but I really did have a problem with his such complete lack of respect for other people's beliefs. Though his apparent atheism didn't jibe for me with his having given Kono the medallion back in season one. Why give someone a medal with a saint on it if you don't believe in what it represents? Weird.

Danny was also a terrible father in the beginning of this ep, and not just for his lack of foresight to take his kid to an actual neighborhood where she could trick-or-treat in safety. I have to admit I think he's a pretty terrible father in general, though at least his heart's in the right place.

Lori is really bland to me. I really liked Jenna even though she was on the show far less than Lori has been, but Lori just kind of annoys me. I think it's because they keep throwing her at Steve without doing much to show why she and Steve should be hot for each other, beyond the physical attraction (though I honestly don't find her all that pretty--too bland). I'm sure they're going to end up kissing by the end of this season and I'm not looking forward to it.

But yes! I would love it if Danny saw ghosts from now on until he does something about it. But I'm sure that's not gong to happen, alas.

I do think we're supposed to think that Danny was being a jerk in the ep, since everyone pretty much pointed out to him that he was being a jerk about it. And while I can buy that Danny is a schmuck sometimes, this did seem to be over-the-top, even for him. I chalk it up to clumsy writing to make a point in the show. And maybe to Scott's obvious relish at playing the part.

Jenna definitely has more personality than Lori. I'm having a hard time warming up to the character because she really doesn't add anything to the show. I think the actress is ill-suited for the role, but then again, the writers haven't done her any favors so who knows. Maybe she'll improve.
