"Meridian" is playing on Sci-fi. Right now. And I'm not watching it. Again. I watched "Sentinel", which I hadn't seen before (missed "Menace," damn it!) but I just can't bring myself to watch "Meridian". I've read the transcript. I've watched clips of it in vids. I watched the opening 30 seconds or so, saw the look on Jack's face, and it's a no-go.

Maybe next time around. And maybe next time I'll actually manage to catch "Menace," too.

Meridian: It's not that bad!

"Meridian" is not that bad. True, I was sad to see Daniel go; and true, I don't despise Jonas (I think he's cute and earnest and, let's face it, slashable); but the ep is not this heart-wrenching thing that makes you sob into your hankie. There's a nice goodbye, and some cool subtext been Jack and Daniel.

*soothes grrrl*

It's all good! Tell you what. Come over to my house (it's only a two-day drive from yours!) and I'll give you a stiff gin and tonic, and we'll watch it, then the first few eps of Season 6, so we can see Daniel come back while Jack is being tortured. Now that's some emotional intensity.

::sniff:: You are so sweet. I'll be right over. You have the DVD behind the scenes thing for "Abyss" right? I'm sure that will make me feel better.

I guess it all just hits a little close to home. Although I can't be the only person in the world who has lost a friends or a family member to illness, so obviously I'm just incredibly, ridiculously sensitive.

I think I need to go write some fluff now.

Maybe not for *you* but for me watching a character I dearly love die slowly in agony *was* heartwrenching. And I did sob into my hankie...er kleenex. Used up quite a bit of them as a matter of fact. But thank God he came back! :-)

Meridian's a good episode. I think it's really important for understanding Jack's character for the next year. Admittedly it's been a while since I saw it and I'm only half way through watching the season 5 dvds (bad me, since I watch them while stationary biking). It may not be something you want to watch numerous times, but you really should watch it at least once.

Very suitable icon, Ane!

I've only watched about half of the season 6 eps, but yeah, you're probably right. I'm probably making a much bigger deal of it than it really is. I will watch it. One of these days.

Meridian is one of my all-time favorite eps. I've seen it, oh, 100 times. *g*

Really? Have you really watched it that many times? ::mind boggles::

No. I exaggerate. *g* I've seen it, or parts of it, probably 30 times. I love that ep with a passion. Someday, I will post a few pages about my deeply fangirly and analytical love for it, like I have for Abyss and The Light. *happy sigh*

Oh yes, please do! I just love seeing eps through others, seeing what they love about it. In a fangirly way.

And it will probably encourage me to finally watch the damn thing.

I said the same thing

Well, I wasn't going to watch it, but it was on, I was in the room, and I ended up watching it anyway. I've seen it before, though. Used less kleenex this time. Plus, I know Daniel's coming back this time around. So...not so bad. There are indeed some very touching moments.

Coincidentally, I just bought the Stargate Season 5 DVD set, so I guess I own this one now. So hey, after you get done at Kylie's, come on down! I have a fresh tequila supply!

Did you say "tequila?" I'll be right on over. A cross country-tour of drinking and Stargate watching. I think that will do me just fine.

Much more fun than being at work today.

Eep. I watched "Meridian" once. Through my fingers over my eyes. On tape. Which I paused every few minutes so I could get up and walk away from it.

I know I ought to watch it again, but. Eep.

*snerk* I'm such a lightweight. Even knowing that it all ends up being okay (eventually), it still turns me inside out.

::resolves to watch it again. soon. honest::

Thank you, thank you! So I'm not the only one. I probably should have taped it, duh, never thought of that. I could have watched five minutes a day.

Through my fingers over my eyes.

I can so see doing that. Thanks for the tip.
