SGA 1.19 "The Siege Part I"

Okay, I've come to the conclusion that watching this show with my nose to the computer screen and my headphones on is way too intense. I need some distance, you know? ::wipes sweaty palms::



Grodin. ::sniffles:: He wore the red jumpsuit, all right. Now, I have to admit, of all the minor characters to go, he was the one I adored the least. So I'm just a little bit relieved that my cute little Zelenka is okay. So far. Bastards.

Now, the one thing that bugs me just a little is NOW they realize the satellite is a weapons station and maybe they can power it up? I would have thought they'd be all over this thing as soon as they discovered it. But okay, I'm willing to cut them a break. Dramatic tension and all that. And yes, it was tense.

The snark level skyrocketed in this ep, and it was a fabulous touch. I loved how it took a couple of snotty remarks from various people to get Rodney back on track whenever he was starting to get wibbly. It was a nice touch, especially with Grodin (sob). Yes, McKay, you can fix anything. I love the sense that they all know and understand Rodney. And that goodbye scene with Zelenka? Beautiful. My Zelenka love grows more and more each day. Such a clever little man. I was so glad to see him get so much airtime.

So does my love for Teyla. I loved when she slugged Bates. To be honest, I thought he had a point, a very good one. I wouldn't have let her go on the recon mission, either. But Bates, he's not exactly Mr. Tactful now, is he?

I was totally creeped out by the fact that a Wraith had been lurking on Atlantis. Totally. The horror of finding him on the scanner was very nicely done. Yeah, they're over-the-top villains, not much depth to them, but just knowing he was lurking around like that--ewww.

Of course, if Bob had half a brain he would have killed Bates and dumped his body into the sea.

Weir! Save that database. Don't you guys have great big flash drives?

And mad, bad-assed Sheppard? A thing of beauty. Really, he is.

Overall, I love the tension in this ep, the air of desperation. Everyone seems like they are just barely keeping it together.

I'm am just filled with geeky love for my new show. Is it next week yet?

Damn I was upset about Peter. I loved Peter. Not as much as Zelenka, but he was cool. And I knew he was toast as soon as he told Rodney to leave him behind. He was so brave. And Rodney was trying to hard to figure out how to save him... ::sniffle::

They are so fucked. I have no clue how they're going to get out of this. Can't wait. ::g::

Grodin's final moment there was heart-rending. Very well done. And poor Rodney, not being able to get to him.

I can't imagine what is going to happen next week, and I've read most of the spoilers even.

Exactly! I spoiled myself yesterday, because I couldn't stand it anymore, and I was so relieved. Losing Zelenka would have broken my heart.

I did too. I also loved Rodney getting wibbly. Maybe it comes from having a kid who is frighteningly smart, but it's the ability to imagine that does Rodney (and often my son) in. He can picture running out of air, how it will feel, and he can picture floating out into space . He needed John there to reassure him that he'd make sure Rodney was safe.

Oh, good point, John wasn't there, was he? I think that was definitely a factor.

I love how John immediately assumed he'd be piloting the jumper for that mission. Because he doesn't want to let Rodney out of his sight, does he?

That was my reaction to John's volunteering, too.

And if John had been there I think Rodney would have been far more willing to go out for the space walk because he wouldn' t have wanted John to do it (and why was sending the pilot out there an option anyway?) and he would have believed that if anything happened John would find a way to save him.
