Connor Trineer Interview
Nov. 2nd, 2005 08:26 amTrek Nation has an interview with Connor Trineer that's pretty interesting. He's rather outspoken about how he felt about certain aspects of the series. Jeeze, makes me glad that managed to miss the entire 4th season of Enterprise.
It was such a enjoyable show for a while there. Not particularly good, but it had a certain charm, and it had CT. Plus subtext. Plenty of subtext. I liked it, and wrote loads of not-very-good fanfiction. (My first fanfiction ever! And it shows. *g*) It was a fun fandom, filled with fun people. Good times.
Since I'm bored today, bored, bored, bored (yes, I have work to do, but it's boring) I'll do the what happened next? meme. Pick any of my fics and I'll tell you what happened next. I promise to try and make it a little more interesting than "and they lived happily ever after". Which of course they all did, but other stuff happens along the way, honest!
P.S. Lookit my supercool icon from

Date: 2005-11-02 03:13 pm (UTC)The finale itself managed to both suck and blow though. I don't know of any fan who was happy with it.

Date: 2005-11-02 03:20 pm (UTC)I object! :) Some of it was very good! That story Skin that you wrote with Kylie Lee is still something I'm very fond of, and re-read occasionally :)
And, actually, I would say that S4 is worth watching... it's better than S3 by quite some way, IMHO. The Vulcan arc and the Augments arc were both pretty cool. The finale was an absolute travesty (or so I hear, I haven't seen it), but the fans I hang out with were otherwise impressed by the season. It's... what Enterprise should have been doing, in some ways, instead of pissing away all the potential with episodes like A Night in Sickbay.
Not so much subtext, though, sadly.

Date: 2005-11-02 03:50 pm (UTC)Once the city is safe, and with Caldwell being around, John realizes that his relationship with Rodney was a bad, bad, bad idea. He pulls back, emotionally and physically, and Rodney is fine with that, just fine. No, really, he is. He's not gay, after all. It was merely a desperate thing between two desperate guys who thought they were going to die.
They step through the gate and get back to Earth, which further reminds Rodney that he's not gay, because oh, look, there's Colonel Carter, and she's just as lovely as ever. He spends the next few days at the SGC huddled with her, impressing her with his newfound knowledge regarding Ancient technology, slipping in a few examples of his brave moments from the past year, also, of his leadership, because he has that, you know.
And he never ever once thinks about watching that red blip on the screen, John's--excuse me, The Major's jumper heading toward oblivion. Or hears that quiet "so long" in his dreams. Or thinks about how it felt to have John's cock pushing into him.
John's gone off somewhere, anyway, Rodney doesn't see him at the SGC the entire time.
So all's fine, and they get on board the Daedalus to go back to Atlantis.
John is sharing a bunk with him.
"So, I thought with your new-found status you'd have your own private bunk," Rodney says, sitting on his narrow bed and rubbing his palms against his legs. "Luxury suite. Or something."
"Nope." John sits across from him. He pokes at his pillow, and plucks at the edge of his bedcovers.
"Okay, fine, this is good, we can--this is good." Rodney nods as he speaks. It's not good, of course. Because in spite of everything, in spite of the fact that John is not blonde and curvy with big blue eyes Rodney needs to touch him again.
"Are we okay?" John bursts out.
Rodney nods again. "Of course. What we did before, that was before, we thought we only had those two weeks, so," he waves his hands, only it's a little more like flailing. "It's done now. I understand, Major."
John straightens. "It's Colonel, now." As if that explains everything.
At that very moment, Rodney hates the US military. "Right, right, right." He stands. "I'm going to go now." He points. "Lunch."
He flees the room.
But when it's nighttime, the lights out, and Rodney's tucked into bed, staring at the ceiling, pretending to be asleep, John comes in and kneels next to the head of his bed.
"Rodney," he whispers.
Rodney turns to face him. He can't make out John's face in the dark, but he understands. Wordlessly, he lifts the bedcovers.
John slides in next to him.

Date: 2005-11-02 03:56 pm (UTC)Now that I think about it, I did manage to catch one of the Augments ep--funny, I had forgotten all about it. I think it was the first one with them? I thought it was okay, but it didn't grab me. I was so out of the loop at that point I couldn't get into it.

Date: 2005-11-02 04:15 pm (UTC)I really liked Enterprise during the first season, but I got way lost after the attack on earth. Life got in the way of my tv, dammit! :P Colin Trineer is really hot, though. I wish I had an icon of him!

Date: 2005-11-02 04:34 pm (UTC)Things go back to normal on Atlantis, or, as normal as thing can be. They go out on missions, and Rodney is fascinated to see John go into "soldier mode". Especially in contrast to the naked, playful John he gets at night. Most nights, at least. They don't get to have sex nearly as often as Rodney would like to. Sometimes they just fall asleep together.
Rodney likes that, more than he thought he would.
They get to visit the planet briefly to fix and retrieve the jumper though. The planet's designation is MX-6969, which is an endless source of amusement. Rodney can't look anyone in the eye during the pre-mission briefing, even though Teyla and Ronin are confused as to why Rodney keeps stuttering and looking at his hands, and John keeps making these snorty noises behind his hand.
Weir just wishes they would grow up. Even though she giggles over it in private with Radek, later that night.
The return trip to the plan is uneventful. Rodney replaces the necessary crystals, and John walks on the beach while Lorne and Parrish keep watch.
They bring the jumper back, and in the jumper bay, John comes up to Rodney and tugs at his sleeve. "Busy right now?"
Rodney shakes his head. He grins, because he's pretty sure he knows what John has in mind. He himself had a pretty visceral reaction to being in the jumper again, seeing the bench where they had sex, thinking about the bed of sleeping bags they had curled up in, touching and petting each other for hours during the rainstorm. He supposes neither of them have been that relaxed since they came back.
"Good," John says. "Come on." He grabs a bag, and heads for the transporter. Instead of directing the transport to the sleeping areas, though, John touches a point far out on the western arm of the city.
In a flash, they are there, and Rodney trails after John. "Where are we going? Is there something out here?"
John doesn't answer, just motions for Rodney to follow. And Rodney does. He follows John all the way out to the end of the pier, because John looks like he's up to something. It's a clear day, pleasantly warm, and the sun is low in the sky. John sits on a bench, and opens his bag.
Rodney smiles as John pulls out the fishing rod. "Oh." He sits close to John, their thighs touching.
And they fish.
Okay, they kiss a little, too.
