Trek Nation has an interview with Connor Trineer that's pretty interesting. He's rather outspoken about how he felt about certain aspects of the series. Jeeze, makes me glad that managed to miss the entire 4th season of Enterprise.

It was such a enjoyable show for a while there. Not particularly good, but it had a certain charm, and it had CT. Plus subtext. Plenty of subtext. I liked it, and wrote loads of not-very-good fanfiction. (My first fanfiction ever! And it shows. *g*) It was a fun fandom, filled with fun people. Good times.

Since I'm bored today, bored, bored, bored (yes, I have work to do, but it's boring) I'll do the what happened next? meme. Pick any of my fics and I'll tell you what happened next. I promise to try and make it a little more interesting than "and they lived happily ever after". Which of course they all did, but other stuff happens along the way, honest!

P.S. Lookit my supercool icon from [livejournal.com profile] monanotlisa! I love it.

Actually, I thought the fourth season was one of their best overall. I didn't much care for the AU stuff with the Mirror Universe near the end, but I rarely like AU stories no matter what universe they're in. But they brought in some writers who actually "got" Trek for a change. That was nice, but I still sensed a lot of network monkeys changing things.

The finale itself managed to both suck and blow though. I don't know of any fan who was happy with it.

I figured with Manny Coto in charge, it would be good, but I had just lost interest at that point, unfortunately. I had issues with the whole T'Pol/Trip storyline, and not just because I slashed Trip--I thought the whole thing was poorly done, and especially for T'Pol.

I've heard a lot of groaning in relation to the finale, and not the good kind of groans, either. What were TPTB thinking?

not-very-good fanfiction

I object! :) Some of it was very good! That story Skin that you wrote with Kylie Lee is still something I'm very fond of, and re-read occasionally :)

And, actually, I would say that S4 is worth watching... it's better than S3 by quite some way, IMHO. The Vulcan arc and the Augments arc were both pretty cool. The finale was an absolute travesty (or so I hear, I haven't seen it), but the fans I hang out with were otherwise impressed by the season. It's... what Enterprise should have been doing, in some ways, instead of pissing away all the potential with episodes like A Night in Sickbay.

Not so much subtext, though, sadly.

You're right, I should amend that--the stuff I co-wrote with Kylie was good, especially her parts. I did love "Andorian Adventure". I could never get a handle on Archer, but I love the way she wrote him.

Now that I think about it, I did manage to catch one of the Augments ep--funny, I had forgotten all about it. I think it was the first one with them? I thought it was okay, but it didn't grab me. I was so out of the loop at that point I couldn't get into it.

Hmmm.

Things go back to normal on Atlantis, or, as normal as thing can be. They go out on missions, and Rodney is fascinated to see John go into "soldier mode". Especially in contrast to the naked, playful John he gets at night. Most nights, at least. They don't get to have sex nearly as often as Rodney would like to. Sometimes they just fall asleep together.

Rodney likes that, more than he thought he would.

They get to visit the planet briefly to fix and retrieve the jumper though. The planet's designation is MX-6969, which is an endless source of amusement. Rodney can't look anyone in the eye during the pre-mission briefing, even though Teyla and Ronin are confused as to why Rodney keeps stuttering and looking at his hands, and John keeps making these snorty noises behind his hand.

Weir just wishes they would grow up. Even though she giggles over it in private with Radek, later that night.

The return trip to the plan is uneventful. Rodney replaces the necessary crystals, and John walks on the beach while Lorne and Parrish keep watch.

They bring the jumper back, and in the jumper bay, John comes up to Rodney and tugs at his sleeve. "Busy right now?"

Rodney shakes his head. He grins, because he's pretty sure he knows what John has in mind. He himself had a pretty visceral reaction to being in the jumper again, seeing the bench where they had sex, thinking about the bed of sleeping bags they had curled up in, touching and petting each other for hours during the rainstorm. He supposes neither of them have been that relaxed since they came back.

"Good," John says. "Come on." He grabs a bag, and heads for the transporter. Instead of directing the transport to the sleeping areas, though, John touches a point far out on the western arm of the city.

In a flash, they are there, and Rodney trails after John. "Where are we going? Is there something out here?"

John doesn't answer, just motions for Rodney to follow. And Rodney does. He follows John all the way out to the end of the pier, because John looks like he's up to something. It's a clear day, pleasantly warm, and the sun is low in the sky. John sits on a bench, and opens his bag.

Rodney smiles as John pulls out the fishing rod. "Oh." He sits close to John, their thighs touching.

And they fish.

Okay, they kiss a little, too.

I want to know what happened after "Maybe It Was The Hair". That is such a cute story and deserves a little coda. :D

I really liked Enterprise during the first season, but I got way lost after the attack on earth. Life got in the way of my tv, dammit! :P Colin Trineer is really hot, though. I wish I had an icon of him!

From: [identity profile] thegrrrl2002.livejournal.com
I totally agree re: Connor Trinner. Can't wait to see him on SGA!

As for "Hair"....

John sleeps poorly. He dreams about little happy people, thousands of them, with bright shiny faces and blond ringlets, big, hard sticks in their tiny hands. Typical nightmarish stuff, his legs won't work right, it's like running through molasses, and the gate keeps getting further and further away.

He wakes with a gasp, arm raised as if to fend off a stick swung with startling strength. He takes in his surroundings. Safe. He's safe in his own room and in his own bed, thank god, he's done with that hellacious mission. But his face hurts. He touches his puffy eye, not too bad, but it's still throbbing, and he feels every bruise on his body, especially the one on his chest.

Rodney is asleep next to him, sprawled indelicately on his back, mouth open and drooling. John had been surprised by Rodney's earlier fussing, surprised and touched. He really hadn't been hurt all that badly, yet Rodney had been uncharacteristically sweet about it. Rodney's attentions had been a balm to his wounded psyche. And the blow job wasn't so bad, either. John smiles to himself, then winces as his cheek throbs again.

He watches Rodney sleep. Rodney's eyelashes are a dark fringe against his cheeks, and his face looks soft. Almost peaceful. Judging by the slow breathing, Rodney is in a deep, sound sleep.

John touches a finger to the tip of Rodney's nose--it's feather-like touch, almost not there at all.

Rodney sniffs.

John touches him again.

Rodney sniffs and makes a sound before turning his head away. John takes this as an invitation to trace the outline of Rodney's ear, and then tickles the fine hairs at the back of his neck.

With a huff, Rodney turns and faces him, intense blue eyes blinking. He frowns.

"Oh, hey, you're awake," John says happily.

"No, I'm not." Rodney closes his eyes, sounding irked.

John nods. "Yes you are." John leans in and presses a kiss to Rodney's lips. "You know, I owe you a blow job, but if you wanted to fuck me instead, that would be okay, too. Unless you're too--"

Rodney's eyes fly open. "I'm awake."

John laughs and reaches for the lube.

Cool interview - Trip was always the best character on that show, and it's nice to see Archer/Trip mentioned. ;) Of course, the entire final ep was an ode to Archer/Trip and Trip in general... I actually liked it rather a lot because Trip was my favorite character and it was all about him. :) Then again, my Trek cred may be low or something since I adore DS9 the most and it's the bastard step child of Trekdom for some odd reason.

Trip was definitely the best character. It was a shame the writers weren't quite sure what to do with him. Or maybe, it's more like the writers tried to do everything with him, at the same time.

DS9 totally rocked! Trek fans don't like it? Hah, what do they know?

Awww, I have a warm place in my heart for that fic, too...

They spend ten uninterrupted days at the cabin. Jack grills huge steaks almost every night, Daniel digs into them with glee. They have baked potatoes and corn on the cob. There's ice cream, too. Chocolate chip. Jack drinks beer, even with his ice cream, while Daniel prefers scotch. They do have go into town for dinner one night, during which Jack nudges Daniel's feet with his, because he can. Daniel gives him that look, the one that always precedes "Jack, don't be an ass", but this time, he flashes a rare smile.

Jack feels like he's king of the world.

They spend a lot of time talking to each other. Jack tells Daniel about being at the cabin as a boy, and Daniel talks about being at digs with his parents. It occurs to Jack that they couldn't be any more different from one another, and yet here they are, still arguing and disagreeing, but now they get to be naked with each other when they do it.

Daniel's obstinate look is particularly appealing when he's hard and horny. Jack finds himself encouraging it.

The night before they leave, Jack lets Daniel fuck him. It's been a million years since he's done anything like that. But he's feeling young and reckless in a go-for-broke kind of way, so he gets on his hands and knees tells Daniel to go for it. He's let Daniel in, in every other sense of the word, why not this?

When Daniel pushes a slick finger in, he whispers "pain in the ass" into Jack's ear, and they both snigger. He takes his time, kissing Jack, rubbing his cheek against Jack's back, pushing his fingers in and out until Jack is trembling and breathless and demanding that Daniel just do it, damn it.

Daniel does it. He's gentle and slow, stroking Jack's sides, taking his time and that's almost more than Jack can bear. He wants fast, he wants hard, the gentleness is going to kill him but no matter how much he insists, Daniel has to do it *his* way.

He's Daniel, after all.

By the time Jack comes he's a mess, he yells and curses, writhing and gasping for breath as his entire body is wracked with pleasure. Daniel comes soon afterward, thank god, because Jack seriously has to lie down and bask for a while.

Which he tries to do, but Daniel crawls all over him, kissing and nuzzling, warm sweaty skin and soft lips. He raises his head to smile at Jack, eyes huge. "Jack," he says, voice full of affection. "Am I going to have to get you a gag for when we get back home?"

Jack grins and nods. "Hell yeah."

Because they're so going to keep doing this when they get back. Every freakin' night.

Well you've already spoken about 'Two Weeks' (which I think is one of the best things you've ever written) so I'm going to enquire about 'Gifts For Your Gift' and 'Snow Day' :-)

Date: 2005-11-04 03:03 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thegrrrl2002.livejournal.com
Hmmm, I think I'm to go with "Snow Day".

They go back into Jack's bedroom, and Jack pulls the curtains wide open before pulling his pants off and bouncing down onto the bed. He props himself up on a pillow so he can watch the snow while Daniel sucks him off, although he does sneak a few glances down at Daniel, because Daniel's mouth is damn pretty, and he loves to see his cock disappear into it.

But mostly he watches the snow fall steadily, swirling with the wind. His fingers are in Daniel's hair, just playing with it a little.

When he comes he closes his eyes and it's all bright white and fresh and new and he's certain that snow days are the best thing ever.

Later, much later, when they finally get dressed and go out to shovel the snow, Jack throws snowballs at Daniel until Daniel finally throws down the shovel in disgust, and makes a few snowballs of his own.

Jack finds out that for a geek, Daniel has a *very* good arm.

They don't get much shoveling done.

The showering is nice though, even if Daniel is still sulking over having snow pushed down his shirt. "Jack, that's cold," he points out, as if that thought had never occurred to Jack.

Eventually, he forgets all about it. Jack makes sure of that.
