I've caved...
Nov. 17th, 2005 11:12 am...and it's all your fault. ::glares at flist::
I have the SGA DVDs in my hot little hands, because you all squealed and squeed over them and I'm cranky and it's freezing out so I needed to buy myself a present.
I'm feeling a tad less cranky now.

Date: 2005-11-17 05:39 pm (UTC)Do you like Torri? I'd love to hear what she says in the commentaries, but people only talk about the men.

Date: 2005-11-17 06:07 pm (UTC)And I adore Tori. She seems like a fabulous person. I'm sure her commentaries will be fun--I'll let you know!

Date: 2005-11-17 05:54 pm (UTC)Good for you for caving. You deserve it, sweetie. ((hugs))
I want to answer your email, before I dash off to the school, but I don't think there will be time. I just got back from poking around in the woods for rotting logs. I found some good ones.
Yes, we're still on the rot cycle. /g/ I think the kids are going to have fun taking the logs apart and looking for crawling things, and fungus, and I know we have mold. :)
Yup, it's definitely the small things.
((hugs you again))
Now I have to go do a puppet show about logs. With the worst puppet show actor ever. How anyone can be a successful teacher and be that wooden an actor I don't know.
Maybe I'll make him be the worm.

Date: 2005-11-17 06:04 pm (UTC)There's a Best Buy just up the way a bit. Okay, so it was a fair bit, especially by city miles, but, well, you know how it is.
And you're such a tease with the mold thing. I want to come play! You're going to find the best stuff ever. I remember back in the day when I actually used to do science, instead of paperwork.
Maybe I'll make him be the worm.
::giggles:: You know, he might like that.

Date: 2005-11-17 07:27 pm (UTC)People never tease *me* with their mold. What am I doing wrong? *pensive look*
I'm so glad you bought yourself SGA!
(Er, have I even commented in your LJ before? Hello!)

Date: 2005-11-17 07:58 pm (UTC)It's my week to tease you. It says so right here in my calendar.
I don't know if we found the best stuff ever, but we found lots of worms and bugs. The kids had fun. I dressed up as a Professor with a time machine. Through the miracle of my time machine we were able to see a log at different stages of decomposition. Unfortunately, my accent kept slipping.
When I was showing them the logs at different stages of decomposing, they all kept saying "ewww, that's gross," then I gave them some rotting logs to explore and they started pulling the logs apart and checking out the pieces with hand lenses like it was the coolest thing ever.
We also looked at trails left behind in wood by tree beetles which was neat.
Should you ever get the chance to visit I will take you into a classroom so you can do science stuff with the kids.

Date: 2005-11-17 08:36 pm (UTC)Huh, I don't think we're paying for this one. Oh, okay, not so bad.
But I'd rather have the teasing. Tease me some more!! I want to play with time machines and decomposing logs! Not doing grant applications and finding previous mistakes in patent applications. Why oh why did I ever leave the lab bench?

I'm sorry this day is sucking so badly. Tomorrow is Friday and then it's the weekend, and then it'll look better then.
I know there are a lot of things you miss about the bench, but I'm betting there are things you don't miss, too.

Date: 2005-11-17 06:10 pm (UTC)And believe me, risking the cold will also be worth it for the fact there are no commercials and the Mission Directives (the wraith one and the siege one being my favorites).
Enjoy!!

Date: 2005-11-17 07:42 pm (UTC)You want mold? Well, it's not DVDs, but I bet Santa can find you some... *g*
I haven't opened mine yet. ::bad bad fangrrrl::

And Santa never sends me the really cool molds and mushrooms. All I get is the back-of-the-fridge stuff.

Date: 2005-11-17 09:18 pm (UTC)Mushrooms are pretty good sauteed or fresh in salad. Yum.
I used to do breaded and fried, but the arteries (and waistline) complain about that nowadays.
