blah blah blah
Apr. 27th, 2006 09:42 amSomeone ate crackers in my car yesterday on their way home from work. Damn, I made a mess.
Also, I am wearing the ugly pants from hell. I've had these khakis for years, and this morning when I put them on I noticed that they were big and bulky around my hips and waist, and narrow enough at the ankle to create the most unflattering shape ever. I look frumpy. And awful. I am throwing them out when I get home. I'm too old to wear frumpy and unflattering pants.
I found out this morning that there are times when my computer at home will invoke Microsoft Outlook instead of Outlook Express (my usual email program). The emails created in Microsoft Outlook don't go anywhere. Yet I am not notified in any way that Microsoft Outlook cannot send them. It was only when, out of sheer curiosity, I clicked on "Mail" in Firefox that I found an inbox filled with error messages. WTF?
So now I have to send a couple of people "sorry, I'm a big dork" emails explaining why I never got back to them.
::sighs::

Date: 2006-04-27 03:19 pm (UTC)Yes, thank you! I wasn't going to spam you and thought I'd reply with the next installment ... which Outlook ate, right, right!

Date: 2006-04-27 03:14 pm (UTC)I'm sure you look fabulous, not frumpy.
The outlook thing is incredibly annoying. /pets/ And you aren't a big dork. You're just dealing with Windows.
I want to go eat lunch, but I can't because I'm waiting for my friend from Ben and Jerry's to come by for a meeting. She may bring ice cream. I've been productive all morning. I've earned some Ben and Jerry's (doesn't mention skipped workout).
My mother called last night. She and my Dad are coming back on Saturday morning, with my nephews. And did I mention that the brother and sister in-law may come up for the day on Sunday?
I hate Maplefest.
Plus, they just set up a fried bread dough booth outside my office door.
/eyes cost of tickets to your place for the weekend/
Wow, I managed to make that all about me, didn't I? But I bet it makes you feel better about the frumpy pants. /g/

Date: 2006-04-27 03:21 pm (UTC)But poor you, all that family! Eeeee! That would make me flail. And eat many, many zeppole while flailing. Yes, you've earned that Ben and Jerry's. Or rather, you will have earned it by the end of the weekend.
Just let me know if I need to pick you up at the airport. *g*

Date: 2006-04-27 06:26 pm (UTC)But can you offer me fried bread dough?
And a parade float to ride on?
Yes, I'm in the parade on Sunday. No, I won't have a baton, or a Shriner's cap.
Last year there was a polar bear in the parade. I pointed and said, "omgwtfpolarbear." Sadly, no one else had any idea what I was talking about.

Date: 2006-04-27 03:20 pm (UTC)Dude, even when you're, like, fourteen -- too old to do so. Yuck. I'm firmly against frumpy and unflattering pants.
Good decision. & :-)

Date: 2006-04-27 03:25 pm (UTC)For the longest time they were just neutral--not the greatest pants around, but good for PMS, nice and baggy, and they cost only $10 at an outlet store.
But now? Bad. Maybe because back in the fall I bought cute stylish pants that are surprisingly flattering. Everything else suffers in comparision.

Date: 2006-04-27 03:55 pm (UTC)I've always found it extremely anoying when my computer makes an arbitraty decision on its own. It's even worse that it didn't tell you about it!
It seems like a chocolate kind of day. *g*

Date: 2006-04-27 04:36 pm (UTC)Which means I should stuff them in the back of my closet and never look at again until we actually live somewhere where painting or gardening might occur.
Or maybe I should just throw them out.
Life is so complicated!!!!!
/whine
You're right, I do need chocolate.

Date: 2006-04-27 04:08 pm (UTC)#2, yes, Outlook IS EVIL and must be watched like a hawk. My condolences. damn computers.

Date: 2006-04-27 04:39 pm (UTC)I need to buy some new pants for the summer.
And what is up with Outlook? I thought I only had Outlook Express on my computer. So where did Outlook come from? It's all EVIL.
I bought my computer used, and I guess I never fully investigated what was already loaded onto it. Damn sneaky things.

Date: 2006-04-28 03:46 am (UTC)Good luck rooting it out. It doesn't always go easy.
Just remember: Outlook Express is fine; Outlook is not (though without Outlook Server to connect to its evil is mitigated.)

Date: 2006-04-27 04:18 pm (UTC)Awww sweetie, dump the pants, get yourself something in your favorite color....and then write about Rodney's wardrobe. (and how John gets him out of it)
Truly as long as it's the pants that are frumypy and not actually you (which I have *cough* some experience with)
There's no reason to be concerned. :)

Date: 2006-04-27 04:41 pm (UTC)So I feel a little bit better now.
But you're absolutely right, I'm going to get some new pants that I will feel good in. And I'm going to give that whole John undressing Rodney thing some thought. *g*

I don't think I ever recieved error messages though; I just noticed the mail never made it to me 'Sent' folder.

Date: 2006-04-27 04:44 pm (UTC)I checked out the links, very interesting! I wonder if that's what's going on. I'll have to check and see if any of those add-ins are on my computer. Thing is, I didn't even realize Outlook was on it--I thought I only had Outlook Express. (I bought it used, and it had some software loaded on already).
I want to convince it that Outlook Express is the default mail program, but there didn't seem to be any way to do that. I'll check again when I get home.
::sighs::
Too complicated! But it's still better than my mac here at work, whose CD drawer keeps opening up at random. For no reason whatsoever.
Computers are weeeeird.

Date: 2006-04-27 04:50 pm (UTC)As for frumpy pants - my sympathy. And why is it that the frump only glares out once you're too far away from home to go and change?

Date: 2006-04-27 04:53 pm (UTC)It must be a reaction to the porn hidden away on my harddrive. Or maybe all the SGA episodes I've downloaded?
No, really, I do get work done here. On occasion.

That, and the thought of booze afterwards.

Date: 2006-04-27 06:39 pm (UTC)Frumpy and unflattering sort of describes ME as well as my clothes. I go for baggy, frumpy and unflattering clothes as camoflage, hoping people will figure it's just my outfit...
I don't use Outlook Express, I like regular. But that is odd.

Date: 2006-04-27 08:38 pm (UTC)::frowns::
That makes my head hurt.
And I'll bet you look dynamite even in baggy frumpy clothes. And you wear them just so you don't stop traffic all the time. Don't try and deny it!!!
I didn't even know I had Outlook on my computer. Maybe I don't have the full program, and that's why those emails never went anywhere.
This bears further investigating.

Date: 2006-04-27 11:31 pm (UTC)But yeah, aging. It sucks. I hate the way my weight has been creeping up, especially since I'm not doing lab work anymore. Sitting at a desk all day is so not a good thing.
