Someone ate crackers in my car yesterday on their way home from work. Damn, I made a mess.

Also, I am wearing the ugly pants from hell. I've had these khakis for years, and this morning when I put them on I noticed that they were big and bulky around my hips and waist, and narrow enough at the ankle to create the most unflattering shape ever. I look frumpy. And awful. I am throwing them out when I get home. I'm too old to wear frumpy and unflattering pants.

I found out this morning that there are times when my computer at home will invoke Microsoft Outlook instead of Outlook Express (my usual email program). The emails created in Microsoft Outlook don't go anywhere. Yet I am not notified in any way that Microsoft Outlook cannot send them. It was only when, out of sheer curiosity, I clicked on "Mail" in Firefox that I found an inbox filled with error messages. WTF?

So now I have to send a couple of people "sorry, I'm a big dork" emails explaining why I never got back to them.

My mother called last night. She and my Dad are coming back on Saturday morning, with my nephews. And did I mention that the brother and sister in-law may come up for the day on Sunday?

Plus, they just set up a fried bread dough booth outside my office door.

For the longest time they were just neutral--not the greatest pants around, but good for PMS, nice and baggy, and they cost only $10 at an outlet store.

But now? Bad. Maybe because back in the fall I bought cute stylish pants that are surprisingly flattering. Everything else suffers in comparision.

I've always found it extremely anoying when my computer makes an arbitraty decision on its own. It's even worse that it didn't tell you about it!

#1, very important - yes, we ARE too old to wear frumpy unflattering pants and I support you entirely. I, as you may recall, recently had a similar experience with an old pair of black jeans and I hope never to repeat it ever.

Last week I threw out *my* old black jeans for the very same reason. They were just awful.

I need to buy some new pants for the summer.

And what is up with Outlook? I thought I only had Outlook Express on my computer. So where did Outlook come from? It's all EVIL.

I bought my computer used, and I guess I never fully investigated what was already loaded onto it. Damn sneaky things.

Just remember: Outlook Express is fine; Outlook is not (though without Outlook Server to connect to its evil is mitigated.)

I've managed to convince my computer that Outlook is not its default mail program, however, I can't get it to acknowledge that Outlook Express exists. ::sighs:: When I set it as the default mail handler thought OE itself (under options), it switches back. And in my control panel, if I go to "Internet Options" and try and set it there, it doesn't come up as an option under "programs".

It's all very, very irritating.

I had the same thing happen to me Outlook once. I don't know if your Outlook is doing the same thing (mine was only one message), but these links gave me the info to fix mine:

I checked out the links, very interesting! I wonder if that's what's going on. I'll have to check and see if any of those add-ins are on my computer. Thing is, I didn't even realize Outlook was on it--I thought I only had Outlook Express. (I bought it used, and it had some software loaded on already).

I want to convince it that Outlook Express is the default mail program, but there didn't seem to be any way to do that. I'll check again when I get home.

The CD drawer popping open is the computer sticking its tongue out at you. It probably means it's just uploaded your entire LJ to your bosses email or something, but you haven't noticed yet. They're not weird, they're just naughty and pretend to be misunderstood.

You made me curious about how to do this if I ever want to stop using Outlook. I thought that there was a drop-down menu to do this, but I couldn't find it; and since I had some time on my hands, I did a web search.

Oh oh oh! The second one listed (the google groups link) there worked. It needed to be added to the registry. Thank you so much, it was starting to make me crazy! I had managed to convince my computer that Outlook wasn't the default anymore, but then it was refusing to acknowledge that Outlook Express even existed. But now, all fixed. Yay!!

I don't believe that, but even so, the right pants do make a difference! Especially having pants that fit properly. And these so don't.

But yeah, aging. It sucks. I hate the way my weight has been creeping up, especially since I'm not doing lab work anymore. Sitting at a desk all day is so not a good thing.
