And I'm a lousy singer. But I just enjoy these songs so much. They make me very happy, so I thought I'd share.

Fishin' Blues by Taj Mahal. Perfect for a hot summer day. This one makes me hum more than sing, actually. I don't know why.

Broken Hearted Melody by Sarah Vaughan. I should really be ashamed of myself for desecrating singing to this one. Her voice is just gorgeous and so lilting. And mine is so not.

Kingdom Hall by Van Morrison. Utterly joyful.

Too Darn Hot by Ella Fitzgerald. Another good one for the summer. So swingy!

Whose Cadillac Is That? by War. I got this one stuck in my head last week, which amused me to no end.

Why Can't I Be You by The Cure. Seriously, everything they do is irresistible. But this just might be my favorite. (And, if I vidded, I would so make a Rodney vid to this.)

Wild Billy's Circus Story by Bruce Springsteen. Yes, early Bruce. 1973, to be exact. ::is a Bruce snob:: But I adore this song! And no matter what my mood, I'm always smiling by time he gets to "Oh god, save the human cannonball".

Wishin' and Hopin' by Dusty Springfield. Yeah, the message is hilariously outdated, but come on, don't you want to sing along, too?

Huh, that's a really odd selection, isn't it?

I murder this song all the time. A long time ago I picked up a Sarah Vaughan/Nina Simone double CD and have been spoiled for all time for the standards that Sarah sings on that CD. Listening to other people sing "World on a String" or "Careless" or "Misty" just makes me cranky because they're doing it wrong!

Erm - so since you have Sarah and Ella and the Cure listed, I'm going to nab the rest.

Thanks!
K

Oh, that must be a great CD! I love Nina Simone, too. And I know what you mean about everyone else singing them *wrong*. Some things simply cannot be improved upon.

Hee! I adore your icon!

It is a great song, isn't it? I'm sure the dead would do a very fun version of it.

heh, geese are a lot of fun...especially in moments like this. some days i go out for a walk and there's about a dozen of them all butt up at the same time.

and the dead would have had a great time with that song. and lots of others...:::sighs:::

Huh, that's weird, its still up there but I'm getting an error message, too. For all of them. Maybe geocities is having issues.

I must have got to the last song just as it started having problems. Weird. I'm enjoying the ones I did get, though--and I swear I've recently been to an amateur musical that used "Too Darn Hot," with a really fun dance number to match.

Sorry about that! I don't know what's up with it. But I'm glad you are enjoying the ones you were able to download.

And "Too Darn Hot" is a classic, that must have been a fun show!
