Damn Joe Flanigan for standing us up! [livejournal.com profile] mmmchelle and I were very bummed. But then we went to Jason Momoa's Q&A, and he was so sweet and funny and charmingly nervous that we forgot all about Joe. (Well, almost. ) And we got to meet [livejournal.com profile] nakedwesley and watch "Common Ground" with her and her friends, which was very lovely! ::waves::

Being cocooned on the wraith ship in No Man's Land was apparently no fun at all. The filming took a long time because the director didn't like the way the cocoons looked on the first two tries. So Jason and David were slathered in KY jelly and wrapped in three layers of latex for three days in a row, 12 hours each day. When they finally broke out, Jason said he wasn't acting, that look of relief was genuine.

David Hewlett...Jason Momoa...KY jelly....yeah, my mind went right to the porny place.

He also said that "A Dog's Breakfast" is a great movie, and there was something about David Hewlett being completely naked in it. (Again, mind to porny place). With a rubber ducky. (mind leaves porny place in a worried fashion).

Jason also talked about doing fight scenes with Joe Flanigan--he said Joe never practices the fight choreography, and ends up hitting Jason all the time. I don't know how serious he was about that. Because he also added that Rachel's stunt double is one tough lady, and that Rachel spends her fight scenes lounging in her trailer and letting her stunt double do all the hard work.

Apparently they all tease Rachel. All the time.

I'm sure there's lots more that I can't remember right now! But [livejournal.com profile] crysothemis is posting snippets of his talk, so be sure to check out her journal!

We also went to Cliff Simon's Q&A. He's just so damn sexy. Seriously sexy. And very entertaining. As was Michael Shanks, who was very 'on' and quite funny.

LOL, he didn't say that, but he did say we need to ask DH where he had his "junk"? I'm not sure I heard correctly, but he was laughing when he said it.

Did they say why JF couldn't come? My son and I showed up this morning and it was all "here! Take pictures with Don Davis! Joe who? Here's Don Davis!"

We only heard after we bought our admission tickets for both days, but they graciously refunded our tickets for today.

They said it was 'contractual obligations', so I'm guessing it was a production thing. They had originally rescheduled him for earlier today, so it seems like they were trying to make it work.

Yeah, we saw the schedule change. They would have refunded our photo op ticket, but my 8 year old was more impressed with Hammond than he was with Sheppard! I wonder if a lot of people blew off Sunday? It was very not-crowded this morning.

I was wondering if there would be anyone left for today, too! I'm glad your son enjoyed Hammond. I've heard that Don Davis is a lovely man, so he probably gave a pretty good Q&A.

I had no idea that's where you two had been - how did I miss that? ::is dumb as a box of hair::

Bummer indeed about JF. Any ideas what happened?

But I saw a write-up about someone else meeting JM at the con and he sounded amazingly charming and sweet. So I'm glad you had a measure of squeeee, at least!

I'm also now going to try to forget about the KY because that's doing me no sovuw goigvywbr,gp wudfgiqtyf;qif;rofa.....

Yes, we were at the con yesterday! And horribly disappointed over the lack of JF. Even though JM is ridiculously adorable. His mom was there! Can he get any sweeter?

Slippery Hewlett....I would definitely have volunteered to rub him down. Both of them. Because I'm generous that way.

I wonder how much they make on these con appearances, too. Considering how much Creation charges for things, I'd like to think it's a great deal.

I also heard from [livejournal.com profile] nakedwesley that JF cancelled! Bummer!!! Hmm, I hate to say it but I also wonder how much of that is Creation - since they haven't exactly got a good reputation for the treatment of both guests and con goers. Plus I think that was where that crazy elf woman appeared and terrorised JF last year. I'm glad to hear that at the very least, you got your money back!

Joe was indeed filming The Game and The Ark because a pal of mine was an extra on the set of SGA and saw both him and Hewlett on Thursday and Friday.

I'm still glad that you all had a great time - and you have a very porny mind! :)

I think Bam Bam has commented that Joe does indeed hate practising the choreographing of the stunts. He's rather lazy in that respect because it's often done in one's spare time. Both Jason and Rachel are more committed to that while Joe would rather be at the golf course.

OOoh... a naked David Hewlett.... so I've heard but I thought it couldn't be true!!! Rubber ducky... hmm, I wonder if that's the inflatable object he's mentioned at a con?

Date: 2006-08-28 03:10 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thegrrrl2002.livejournal.com
I've heard not-very-nice things about Creation too. We were very annoyed because when we bought the two general admission tickets, they already knew JF had cancelled, but there was no notice at the table. They still had the boards up with the prices for the JF photo opp and autograph. I thought that was pretty sleazy.

I love that comment from Bam Bam - it doesn't surprise me that Joe would be like that. He just gives off that kind of attitude. Of course, I think it's cute that he's kind of lazy. I can relate. *g*

And I'm very intrigued regarding the 'inflatable object'. I think you might be right. Can't wait to see the movie!

BamBam has said in his thread on GW that Joe doesn't get chance to do a lot of practice for the fight scenes because his workload is so heavy because, being the lead as it were, he is in nearly every single scene so he simply doesn't have that much spare time to practice. Of course I guess too what spare time he does have is taken up with reading his newspapers if the Season 1 DVD extras are anything to go by! *lol*

From: [identity profile] mcalex22.livejournal.com
FYI, I was speaking in jovial manner. I thought I'd clarify in case it may not come across as that! LOL.

I did meet Bam Bam last month, and he said a couple of stuff about "freaking Flanigan" (his words not mine - though he meant it in the fondest terms!) which is how I knew about the golf - there is no doubt in my mind though that Joe is a hard worker and very much dedicated and committed to his work.

He just likes to play golf too! And he prefers to spend his weekends doing that and hanging out with the family, instead of rehearsing for stunts because the (poor poor) actors have to rehearse these stunts in their spare time - ie stay back and work late or come into the studio in the weekends. :)

Jason likes doing it because he's a very action guy while Rachel does have a personal reason for rehearsing the stunts at her house (something that I don't think I should repeat because she hasn't commented on it publicly).

I didn't say this previously because I didn't want to get into trouble with anyone in GW but if it's going to be misconstrued as a criticism of JF amongst a certain bunch of people, than I'll happily delete both these comments and refrain from making any comments in the future.

:)

Oh gosh I wasn't in any way suggesting you were in any way criticising Joe... I absolutely took your comment in the tongue in cheek manner intended! :D I was merely adding my thoughts to the matter as BamBam had mentioned it recently on GW.. and adding my own jesting comment about the amount of time Joe spends reading newspapers on set (including inbetween takes whilst inside the pod in Aurora, according to the commentary for that ep! *lol*)

Thank you! I was a bit concerned when you said Gateworld - I know sometimes that people from "extreme ends of fandom" visit GW and I worried that this report had somehow been mentioned in the thunk thread or somewhere else where my comments might have been highlighted by (not yourself but potentially someone else) any random person as being "anti-Joe".

I love the man! He's fantastic and he's a great guy - and I'm honestly, pretty miffed with Creation because I'm pretty sure that he gave them notice that he'd cancelled but that they just "forgot" to tell fans.

If I ever see him at a con, I will ask him about his golf! :)

From: [identity profile] alipeeps.livejournal.com
Oh I know what you mean. There is really quite an astounding amount of negativity on GW at times... I've never known a fandom quite so negative. I steer well clear of it. :D

In case I sound so serious, it's because you mentioned GW and this LJ post is on the newsletter.

I really don't want to get into a kerfuffle with anyone who perceives that I've somehow "insulted" their favourite actor! :)

Date: 2006-08-28 11:48 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] alipeeps.livejournal.com
Sorry I've no idea what that means, "on the newsletter". I didn't mean to start any kerfuffle anywhere by referencing GW. I just came across this LJ by following a link from elsewhere and found it good reading and wanted to contribute. If I have caused any offence then I'll just delete my posts...

Nah, it's just a slight misunderstand on my part.

I used to thunk in GW at both the McKay and Sheppard threads (so long ago!) and sometimes, I had kerfuffles so I jumped to conclusions that someone out there was reading my words and misinterpreting them!

But all's good - and I may just visit Bam Bam's thread and say hello since I changed my siggie to one with him in it. I'd been meaning to thank him for the great stunt work in Common Ground :)

From: [identity profile] alipeeps.livejournal.com
Cool. Glad no kerfuffles then. :D

BamBam is a star - and wasn't Common Ground just all kinds of awesome?! He's been heavily complimented for it on GW and ws nice enough to text our compliments on some amazing acting to Joe who texted back "Sweeeeet! Thanx!" :D :D

Coolness. I love all those guys. :D
