Prehistoric Mystery Organism Verified As Giant Fungus.
A twenty foot tall fungus! How fabulous is that? It promptly brought to mind what might be the creepiest short story I have ever read--"Fungus Isle" by Philip M. Fisher, originally published in 1923 but we have in an anthology somewhere. Story gave me the willies for weeks.
Team Sheppard needs to visit a prehistoric planet with giant things. Like fungi. And bugs. Giant, prehistoric bugs.

Date: 2007-04-24 04:23 pm (UTC)OTOH...there's a story out there that has just this idea. Shep's team visits a planet, and it's barren but for some weird structures, plus some sort of powdery stuff (if memory serves, which it may not, accurately.) I believe that they/some of them end up turning into some kind of fungus, literally a transformation, and it does turn out good in the end, although it's close.
Do you recall that story? Does anyone? It was good.

Seriously, you may just have to write that..but no pressure though.

Date: 2007-04-24 05:45 pm (UTC)Though I'm now thinking of them finding something like mealworms or centipedes the size of pigs, and Ronon and Teyla rubbing their hands as they nod at each other: a delicious Pegasus Galaxy traditional barbeque feast thing! Just as long as one person distracts it while the other three cut its head off quickly.
Not exactly sure where the sexin fits in with the spit-roast centipede yet, though...!

That and they need to have a crossover with Primeval (http://primeval.itv.com/). That show has Dinosaurs, prehistoric bugs, Goa'uld Dodos and anomalies that are "conclusive proof that the past exists"! (No really, it says so every time in the opening sequence.)

::giggles::
And maybe I'll just change my post to read "prehistoric orgasm" and have done with it. *g* We all have such porny minds!
