Gakked from a whole mess of folks.

1. Stop talking about politics for a moment or two.
2. Post a reasonably-sized picture in your LJ, NOT under a cut tag, of something pleasant, such as an adorable kitten, or a fluffy white cloud, or a bottle of booze. Something that has NOTHING TO DO WITH POLITICS.
3. Include these instructions, and share the love.

Why yes, it is me and my sister preparing the Christmas antipasto.

Mmmm...antipasto.

OK, I'm showing up at your house this Christmas! ;-)

The best part of Christmas, if you ask me. I never have any room left for the rib roast, but that's okay. I like filling up on salty, smoky preserved meats and olives and cheese and anchovies.

BTW, it's my sister's house, the other sister, not the one in the picture. Just so you don't show up at the wrong place. *g*

Ah, thanks for the head's up. Boy, wouldn't I have been embarrassed if I showed up at the wrong house! ;-)

*ogles* Oooh, food porn! :-)

Okay, I'm seriously hungry now.

Umm... can I come over? *smiles winningly*

Sure! But the cupboard is bare. I only eat stuff like that on holidays. Or else I wouldn't be able to fit into the chair I'm sitting in right now. *g*

Mmmm, prosciutto...

::sniggers:: And a big knife slicing them up.

No wonder my husband doesn't come into the kitchen when we're preparing it.

Yum.

If you wanted to come to my house over the holidays and do a little cooking that'd be okay with me.

Just so you know.

Hee! I don't cook on holidays, I assemble. I'm very good at assembling, though. I can pile olives, cheese and meats a foot high on a platter.

Now I KNOW you're Italian:) Is that supresada (I have no idea how to really spell it...)? That's the best part of the holidays, the greasy homemake smoked sausage (which made a special appearance in an episode of Joan of Arcadia, btw. They're having a 'house party' and someone takes it out of the fridge. Luke (aka mini Jack) says "Hey, that's my father's special sausage that he imports all the way from Jersey."

*giggles*

I know what kind of sausage you mean, but I don't think that was it. But hey, any kind of greasy smoked sausage works for me!

First--your icon rocks! *g*

The plant is an orchid of some sort, my sister grows all kinds of them, but I think that one was the kind with big pinkish purple ruffly flowers.

Was that helpful or what? ::giggles:: Okay, here's a better shot:

That is, helpful. Thungyavurrymudge.

And now I think your sister is some kind of magician, because I read The Orchid Thief once and I got the impression that orchids are really not very easy to grow, much less keep alive.

Goodness!

[ps: I'm glad you like my icon. I have enjoyed many of yours.]

She claims they are not that difficult to grow, especially the varieties she has. But I'm not so sure I believe her. *g*

It could be true. It could even be that I am misremembering that book. Or it could be that because it comes to her easily, she figures anybody could do it.

She's an enigma, I don't mind telling you.

Yum! Food! Food with Italians! But I wish that we could see your faces instead of just your hands. But OTOH, the fact that somebody took a picture of you guys doing this is just too funny. DH and I take pictures of the prepackaged foods we use to prepare Thanksgiving dinner (the box of stuffing, the can of cranberry sauce...).

I cropped out our faces, because I looked silly. *g* But I'd send it to you, if you like. We look very focused, although I'm sure we were being very silly.

I'm pretty sure I made Dave take the picture, because we always have pictures of food from the holidays! *g* Plus Lisa had just remodeled the kitchen.

I think it's pretty funny you guys take pictures of the packages! Do you pose with them, or is it a still life kind of thing?

Oh, so you say. But yes, do send me the picture. I'll be the judge of the silliness factor, thank you very much!

Both.

I rarely get dressed on Thanksgiving Day, so there will be no posting of the Thanksgiving pictures! None of them is an e file, anyway--they're all the old-fashioned kind.

We never go anywhere for Thanksgiving. It's our holiday together. We did this in self-defense when we kept going somewhere, then getting snowed in, and we couldn't get back to school to teach our classes. But this year, we're going to a friend's. As long as we don't have to leave town, I'm all good.
