Date: 2005-02-07 07:11 pm (UTC)Well, first - I'm actually relieved by the spoiler portion of SG-1 explaining what will happen with Jack's character, more so than the casting news. Although the other casting spoiler about the Jaffa leader is super-cool.
But Oh my! Eeee! The SGA casting spoiler made my little heart beat faster. Wow, the casting folk clearly know the SF fan base and who to hire to make everyone squee. :)
[And I hope that maintained an all spoiler-free content while remaining squeeful.]

Date: 2005-02-07 07:54 pm (UTC)I agree -- I'm almost as excited for what this tells us about the intended disposition of Jack (though I still have a *lot* of questions), as for anything else. The Beau Bridges thing I'd heard earlier, I think Destina posted it first, but I was waiting for SciFi or Gateworld confirmation, so my overall reaction is: huh! Okay, then. Am in wait-and-see mode. BB is relatively solid. Methinks he will be more of a Hammond-esque character than a Jack-like character, but that's fine.
Speaking of which... um, where's *Hammond* going, then?
For the rest: Lou Gosset Jr. is an interesting pick. Also quality. Totally out of left field; would not have guessed that in about a billion years.
And Mitch? Woo! (Although it makes me worried for Weir's command and character development in general, but, we'll see how it plays out.)
Going back to Jack for a moment... promoted? In charge of Homeworld Security????
On the one hand, I kind of like the idea, because I was worried about Jack's storyline ending with the notion that while he'd been a great field commander, he was basically unfit to be commander of the SGC for whatever reason, and to have him retiring on that note made me sad. So... promotion, that has to be good, right?
Am wondering whether that necessarily means he stays in the military or not. And how that may impact... other rumors.
Plus, um... okay, what will Jack be *doing* as head of Homeworld Security? Pissing off the entire Senate on a weekly basis, or what? I love's me my Jack, but let's be honest -- he has strengths, and weaknesses, and he is not a man I ever wanted to or expected to see behind a desk in Washington. Frankly, he gets along better with just about any aliens, barring the Goa'uld. (Maybe *that's* the point, and if so, that would be interesting.)
Hmm.

Date: 2005-02-07 09:26 pm (UTC)Me, too. I like Weir and I like her in charge, so this makes me edgy.
Seeing John confront a superior officer is interesting, however. But I still think I would have preferred more time for some of the recurring characters rather than bringing an established actor who will inevitably take some screen time away from the current cast.

Date: 2005-02-07 08:16 pm (UTC)I used to work for a Captain who was the spitting image of Mr. Skinner. Was very distracting. He knew it, too. Wore the exact same glasses. Bastard.
So I'm kind of vibing on this. Wonder what service he'll be? AF would be nice. Probably a
jarheadMarine, though.Who is Nick Lea? ::she asks innocently::
