Those two grant proposals I shipped out Friday? FEDEX has no idea where they are. They aren't in the system. Despite the fact I personally handed them to the FEDEX person in the FEDEX office.

They're going to let me know when they figure it out.

The deadline was a 'mail by' not 'recieve by' date, so all may not be lost. Unless the packages are.

I am SO not happy.

My thoughts exactly. This kind of thing drives me crazy. Didn't FEDEX used to be reliable? Lately, they suck.

OH NOOOOoooooo!!!!!!! ::comforts you::
I would go sue fedex, and retire to Vancouver on the huuuuuge payout!! *g*

Me too. It's just so frustrating. I should have gone with US Post office, but you know, it's so much easier to use FEDEX. Except for that 'not actually shipping the packages' part.

Oh man, that sucks! I hope they find them and it all works out. :(

I don't trust FedEx. I had a brain shipped to me once, that ended up in Ohio for some reason. Ohio being a distant and scary place as far as I'm concerned, btw.

From: [identity profile] thegrrrl2002.livejournal.com
A brain? Really? A people brain?

FEDEX obviously needs one of their own.

Ohio *is* a distant and scary place, BTW. Even though I drive through it whenever I head home for the holidays.

Yeah, a person brain. Do you know how hard it is to get a fresh human brain? It was very sad, and got sadder when the dry ice melted/sublimated after it was in Ohio (during the summer) for 3 days and FedEx finally found it and called us to ask if they should be worried that the box was oozing.

I was in Ohio once. Once.

From: [identity profile] thegrrrl2002.livejournal.com
Oh, you must have been furious.

And oozing is so not good.

On behalf of my state of residence, hey!

Not that I'm not desperate to get out of here m'self, you understand.

I'm sure we can find some way to extract revenge on FedEx. There's a lot of creatively evil folk around here. Bastards.

FEDEX didn't give you copies of the shipping info? If they did, there should be a tracking number, omg.

*crosses fingers*

Date: 2005-04-04 04:46 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thegrrrl2002.livejournal.com
Oh yes, I have all the shipping info and tracking numbers. They're the ones without the information--apparently the numbers were never entered into the system. I'm hoping that doesn't mean the packages were never shipped.

Date: 2005-04-04 04:57 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rosewildeirish.livejournal.com
What it probably means is the idiots didn't scan it into the system when they entered it. If you have the receipts and the date on them, you might be able to use those to resubmit.

Can you contact the folks at the other end and let them know, especially with a caveat of please, please, let me know when you receive this?

UPS has this problem very sporatically, but they, too, also have it. And on the UPS site, you can try and input the tracking number to see where it is. FEDEX should be like them, and at every station it stops at, they should scan it in.

Best of luck!

thank you. ::sniffles::

It's such an awful moment when you type in the tracking number, and you get the 'number not found' message. You just know This Can't Be Good.

FEDEX has been causing us all sorts of problems lately. But there's that stupid part of my mind that insists they're more reliable than the post office. When they're so not.

::sighs::

Oh, they are SO not. We have all kinds of problems with FedEx too, and yet we have to use them because we have accounts with them. *pets you*

Arrgh! You poor thing! Fed Ex is the devil. In my personal experience, they once delivered food packed in dry ice two days late causing lots of spoiled barbeque, and another time, took a month to deliver a next-day package, causing my zine not to premiere at Media West.

Date: 2005-04-04 04:53 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thegrrrl2002.livejournal.com
Spoiled barbeque? Now that's just wrong.

And I'm so sorry about the zine. You must have been really pissed.

Seems like they haven't figured out this whole shipping thing yet. They suck.

Date: 2005-04-04 07:22 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] grey-bard.livejournal.com
Seriously. I've never had these problem with any other shipping company. I think they should come with a warning label or something, and I really hope that they get your envelope there *nearly* on time

From: [identity profile] ionah.livejournal.com
That's awful! Try DHL (used to be Airborne) next time. Although, honestly, my experience with all the delivery services, including the good old USPS, says they're all going to lose something, eventually.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that it all works out!

Date: 2005-04-04 06:33 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thegrrrl2002.livejournal.com
Hey! It's Ionah! *g*

Yeah, I wouldn't mind if they would lose the stupid stuff. Non-essential documents and whatnot. I really think we should close out this account and switch to a different carrier, though.

Date: 2005-04-05 12:17 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ionah.livejournal.com
Why bother losing the stupid stuff? That wouldn't cause anyone pain, and then no one could sit around and snicker as you tear out your hair! :-)

Thank you, you're very sweet. I swear, next time I'm lying to everyone about the due dates, so I can send everything out at least day early. Only problem is I'm a terrible liar. Must practice.

And FedEx *is* ridiculous. Not in a good way either.

From: [identity profile] thegrrrl2002.livejournal.com
Oh, yeah, it's all on the hard drive. But the deadline was Friday, a postmark date so if the packages are found, we should be okay. Still, when the hell is NIH going to go to electronic submissions? Not that that is a totally bug-free system, but it's an improvement, I say.

Date: 2005-04-05 08:52 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] sinden.livejournal.com
if they lose it, you have the documentation to say you sent it, so you should be able to resend it, shouldn't you? Dude, seriously? They're still paper based? *boggles* That's so very wrong.

Not really, LOL. But hey, I'm willing to accept a certain amount of human error, but just not with something like this. Why not something simple, like all those non-disclosure agreements I send out to various people week after week?
