thegrrrl2002: (JF)

There's a new interview posted at about.com with Joe Flanigan. It's pretty much spoiler-free, as far as I could tell. It's sort of a silly interview, (I found the interviewer to be kind of annoying) but I was very happy to see this when JF was asked about working with DH:

He’s a great counterpart to my character. We were having some fun working together. I said to the producers, and I was just joking around, “Why don’t we do some of the Bob Hope/Bing Crosby episodes in space?” And you’ll see that in this season, he and I getting ourselves into trouble and then trying to get out. He has the brain, and I have the gun.

::squee!!!::

JF: No, I just can’t stand the thought of being stuck on a cruise ship. It’s like my version of Satre’s No Exit.

oh gods. Can we clone him? Please?

I know it sucks for most 'cause they have to wait until July for new eps. Im still only on episode 3 and Im amazed how this show has me already, I mean i like it more than SG1.

I really cant wait for them to release the box set, i need the box set....

I was so happy to hear there'd be more John/Rodney adventures. They play so well together. *g*

And yes, I edited this one a bit from when I first loaded it, I toned down the blue a little and added a peachy layer. I think it's much better now. Thank you!

I've read 3 interviews with JF now, and I have to say, I think the questions are picked based on some sort of logarithmic dumbness scale. He seems to have fun answering them with just as silly comments, but... I'd love to see a serious interview.

I think TPTB see the chemistry between JF and DH and play up to it, and the actors have a lot of fun so it's all well and good. I've been a little worried how the new character might interact with the others, but it sounds like at least the McKay and Sheppard relationship continues onward.

I was interested in seeing JF comment that McKay gets on Sheppard's nerves. They seem more comfortable together now than at the beginning, just kind of snarking for fun and to ease tension, so the getting on the nerves line bothered me a little. Conversely, I love McKay but I can see how he could easily get on people's nerves in certain situations and total doom and gloom, so... Plus, that's such an emotional response to McKay, rather than a comfortably distant one... Still I haven't decided what to make of that comment.

Oh god, he gets the dumbest questions, doesn't he? And you can tell, even with the stupid going on, he's really very thoughtful about the character and the characters place in the show. Which of course he'd have to be, considering he's written an episode. He's smart, yet questions-dumb, dumb, dumb.

I was suprised by the acknowledgement that he wrote an ep, since I had heard that he wasn't doing it after all.

I was very glad to see that they were still playing up the Sheppard and McKay fun in the new season. I think TPTB themselves weren't really expecting it, from some of the comments I've seen. I actually suspect that McKay wasn't intended to go off-world regularly, and that might be while Zelenka's role has grown.

I was interested in seeing JF comment that McKay gets on Sheppard's nerves.

I think that's certainly a simplification of their relationship. *g* I also thought it was interesting that he mentioned the security vs. exploration issue--that really hadn't come up yet, and I can see it as a possible source of confict. So maybe that's what he's talking about.

I'm really looking forward to the new season. Very much so.

I’d like to see some exploration of his backstory, previous experiences before he jumped on board. Wanted to explore darker side to his personality. You have to be careful with that. I don’t want to make him a standard hero where he’s always the center of good. He should have certain vulnerabilities. He makes mistakes.

*bounces up and down*

Oh god, please let this come to pass. I want Shep's backstory so bad! And the darkness - yes!

I know, and yet, I'm nervous about the whole backstory thing, too. I so don't want it to be dopey. Just...dark and juicy. *g*

He's so cute. Why is he so cute? (And why won't he say how old he is? There's a plot bunny there. *kicks it*)
